We speak to 55DSL creative director Andreo Rosso as he launches the 5th anniversary 10.55 collection.
To launch their 5th anniversary 10.55 collection 55DSL have collaborated with a selection of iconic artists to create A capsule t-shirt collection. Artists include 80’s punk photographer Gavin Watson, fashion photographer Claudia Zalla and art director Remy Castle, amongst others. The anniversary kicked off in true 55DSL style with a party in the 55DSL store where the limited collection tees were on display. We caught up with 55DSL creative director Andrea Rosso to talk about the new collaboration.
WONDERLAND: Hi Andrea! As a designer of long standing how do you continually inspire yourself?
Andrea Rosso: Sometimes I think there’s so much inspiration outside that is more creative to focus on only one idea and vintage is definitely one of my favourite source.
For the 55DSL 10.55 collection, how do you choose the artists you collaborate with?
We’re constantly submerged of a lot of images from the web, from this crowd we choose what we like the most and trends that link to the 10.55 project.
Would you say you were always a fan of their work?
Today there are too many people that have a very good visual approach on their artwork, so it’s hard to keep track of each single one, but with these artists in particular it was love at first sight for me and their work!
You recently worked with Gavin Watson do you think that Punk has a direct
influence on 55DSL as a brand?
Lot of inspirations of graphics could come from Punk era – when I was younger punk and alternative ’90 music was part of my daily listening.
What were your reasons for choosing to work with Gavin?
I got to know him in person when we shot in London the first time, since then we have a really good relationship. I love his work personally and I think he fits well with 55DSL.
Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
Many people, but I love illustrator like Syd Mead.
