BACKSTAGE: ICEBERG SS14

This season, Iceberg’s Alex Martial reinvented the team “space cadet.”

The collection featured simple yet detailed uniform-like separates.  Tall collared blouses and structure specific trousers were a chic girl scouts dream. Clean neoprene and gauze-like textures gave the collection that futuristic touch while peak-a-boo florals bedded under sheer basics had a retro-manga feel. Martial tried his hand at the contemporary designer sweatshirt with pop art Japanese text printed pullovers. Further Japanese influence was found in cherry blossom adorned silk blouses and screen tees.

The house’s namesake received homage in the form of iceberg/glacier decals featured on silk dresses and tees as well as pullovers using the iceberg as a cadet badge. Astronaut-like platform sandals were the footwear of choice, taking the Iceberg woman further into the constellations. The contrast of the sharp basics, feminine blossoms and easy silks beautifully meshed for a well put together space traveller.
