PREMIERE: SOLOMON GREY – “GASCARENE SOUND”

Anglo-Aussie duo Solomon Grey go swimming in their long awaited follow-up June’s ‘Gen V’.

Solomon Grey took a running leap into the blogosphere consciousness with their 2012 debut ‘Firechild’ – then abruptly disappeared for a good few months, before re-emerging with their first proper single ‘Gen V’ on the ever-reliable Black Butter Records.

‘Gascarene Sound’ finds the band in a more contemplative mood, with murky falsetto, pulsating drumbeats and the judicious use of plaintive plucked strings. Directed by Thom Undrell, this moody underwater video only serves to heighten the overall effect of a lovelorn underwater shanty, whispered by someone who’s almost, but not quite, within reach.

Gen V/ Gascarene Sound is out 4th August on Black Butter Records. solomongrey.net/
