WATCH: BENGA PLAYS ORIGINAL PENGUIN’S PLUGGED IN SESSION

You say EDM, we say original UK pirate radio goodness woooo!

Benga Original Penguin Concrete gig

Original Penguin have been running their Plugged In sessions since last year, but they’ve well and truly upped their game with their latest gig. Benga – dubstep originator, one-third of Magnetic Man and all-around party starter – took to the decks at Concrete to deliver a hi-NRG set that kind of puts previous Plugged In boys to shame. (Not that we have anything against the illustrious likes of Miles Kane, Willy Moon or Jake Bugg…)

Benga, aka Adegbenga Adejumo, was only 15 when he put out his first record ‘Skank’ on the now-defunct Big Apple Records, in the process kickstarting the emerging dubstep scene. Now aged 26, he’s just released his third album, Chapter II – and he balances his Radio 1 show with Skream, a frenetic touring schedule and producing duties for people like Katy B. Did someone say overachiever?
