Daria Strokous stars in Dior’s second Secret Garden film, filmed at Versailles and in a forest outside the Petit Trianon. Shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, it’s more high-concept and waaaay less 80s than the original.
The film follows Strokous fleeing through the Versailles grounds, occasionally finding herself surrounded by implacable models in tulle blindfolds before ending up in a tableau familiar to any art history student: Édouard Manet’s celebrated painting, ‘Luncheon on the Grass‘. A high fashion version, of course.
Between this and Karl’s Coco Chanel film, it seems that designers are rediscovering their love of film – or they’ve realised that it’s just one more way to present the collection to the public. Either way, it’s a delightful way to see Dior’s AW13 line in action.
