FASHION FILM: THE FIRST PRADA CANDY AD DIRECTED BY WES ANDERSON

Watch the first installment of Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola’s Prada Candy ads, starring Lea Seydoux.

Not content with winning our hearts in the cinema, Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola have turned to the world of fashion. The duo was handpicked by Miuccia Prada to create a series of super-short films to promote the label’s new Candy L’Eau parfum, and the result is classic Anderson: irreverent and dryly witty, with every aesthetic detail – down to the tiny expresso saucers – imbued with the filmmaker’s typical charm. According to Miuccia, the films “encompasses Candy as the most sparkling and unexpected character”.

Inspired by Jules et Jim and other classic French new wave films, Lea Seydoux plays Candy, a girl caught in a romantic tussle between two boys called Julius and Jim – except she’s too busy stuffing her face with popcorn and acting adorable to even notice. Parfait, non?
