Kris Van Assche takes Dior Homme to infinity and beyond in this sleek, sci-fi-inspired collection.

For the Dior Homme show, Kris Van Assche was apparently inspired by the final scene in sci-fi drama Gattaca (“where they leave in a spaceship – but they are all wearing these simple black business suits”). No surprise, then, that the collection was everything a man of the future could want – crisp, clean and immaculate.
Put it this way: in the future, there aren’t going to be many fat guys. Tailoring was super-slim, the whites were super-white, and the models gliding down the shiny-as-ice runway appeared to be carbon copies of each other, severe side-part, cinched waists and all. Designers who can present such a breathtakingly coherent vision and still deliver clothes that are modern and utterly covetable are few and far in between. Someone page Ethan Hawke and thank him for this show – and excuse us while we queue Gattaca up on Netflix. If it’s good enough for Van Assche…
