It’s a New Year, and time for the long-awaited unveiling of which model babe has made it as the new face of Topshop’s global Spring Summer 2016 campaign. Topshop are known for picking inspirational women of the moment, and Karlie Kloss is no different. A role model and inspiration for women all over the world, Kloss is known for promoting women in tech – pushing them to both code and utilise social media for the greater good. Basically she’s what they called at school a classic ‘all rounder’. Who better to front the Topshop campaign?

The campaign was shot by super-acclaimed photographer of the moment Tyrone Lebon and styled by Topshop Creative Director, Kate Phelan, in New York. Phelan says: “It is thrilling to have Karlie back, eight years after her first modelling job and first Topshop campaign alongside Jourdan Dunn. She is the ultimate Topshop girl and modern super – a world-renowned fashion figure, businesswoman, entrepreneur and philanthropist who will resonate with our global customers through her many talents, ambitions and passions.”

Check out the accompanying film for the campaign below.

We take a look behind the scenes on Diane von Furstenberg’s first film campaign for AW15, fronted by Karlie Kloss.

What better day to release a campaign featuring Karlie Kloss than the supermodel’s birthday? With an undeniably Bond theme tune, the AW15 campaign’s centre piece is the Secret Agent bag. In the film shot by Peter Lindbergh, Kloss completes an enviable amount of outfit changes, raising more than a few eyebrows as she sleuths her way past police, paparazzi and public, sneaking into restaurant back doors to deliver her Secret Agent purse.

Despite looking ever so ladylike in her DVF get-up, Kloss serves a femme fatale edge with lace-backed dresses and handcuffs stashed in her bra (we’ve all been there). In this first movement for the brand, the behind the scenes images allow us a little insight into the production, with Diane herself snapping a picture of Kloss in one, you can spot her by her trademark curls.

Coco Rocha had hair so long that it look like a weave, then she cut it all off now she look like Eve.

Coco Rocha with short and long hair

First Beyonce debuted her short blonde crop, then Coco Rocha made the decision to chop her brunette tresses off. Clearly, there’s something in the air that’s driving supermodels and starlets alike to the styling scissors. Or maybe it’s something in the hair… Okay, we’ll stop there. But as this list proves, models are no stranger to the empowering qualities of a severe crop. And if you’re in bad need of a hair update, there’s no better inspiration than the following ladies.

Karlie Kloss with long and short hair

1. Karlie Kloss

The modern face of “short hair can be hot, too” phenom. Slammed by some Victoria’s Secret fans as not having sexy enough tresses to merit her angel wings, Kloss has proved defiant in the face of criticism. “There are girls out there with every body type and there are girls out there with every hair type,” she said. “You can be sexy with short hair!” We co-sign.

Abbey Lee with long and short hair

2. Abbey Lee Kershaw

The Australian model-turned actress is no stranger to dramatic hair changes – she once dyed her hair a blinding shade of platinum blonde – but we loved her slightly subtler long bob (below right), christened by some as the Kob. Most recently, she’s been snapped with bright pink hair. Chloe Norgaard can rest easy, though – the dye-job is for Kershaw’s role in Mad Max: Fury Road.

Edie Campbell with short and long hair

3. Edie Campbell

Campbell with long hair looks like butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth. Campbell with short, black shag cut just screams rock’n’roll. It’s a great way for her to break out of the ‘posh English’ model ghetto, and it worked. Can you imagine Marc Jacobs ever casting her in a campaign like this with her old hair?

Naomi Campbell with long and short hair

4. Naomi Campbell

Let’s not get it twisted: we know that Naomi – and Beyonce (although that’s been disputed) – probably don’t cut their hair. They change their weaves. But we still think that Naomi looked great with this shorter crop, and given how much flak she’s taken for her receding hairline, it might be time to bring back the more relaxed and less high-maintenance style.

Kate Moss with long and short hair

6. Kate Moss

At 25 years in the industry and still going strong, it’s safe to say that Kate Moss has undergone her fair share of hair transformations. She started off as a long-haired, fresh-faced muse to Corrine Day, but her hairdresser BFF James Brown chopped it all off into a pixie cut in the early 2000s. Now she’s settled on a mid-length cut, and she looks even better than before. No wonder she’s just been named the new face of Kerastase.

Tao Okamoto with long and short hair

5. Tao Okamoto

It’s hard to imagine Tao without her signature mushroom cut, but she started off with long tresses. “My hair was really long, but I wanted to cut it because all Asian girls have the same hairstyle— long, black, straight hair,” Tao explains. The cut proved so influential that Phillip Lim had all his runway models’ wigs styled to match Okamoto’s bob in a 2009 show.

Linda Evangelista with long and short hair

7. Linda Evangelista

The original “cut it off and boost your career” model. When Evangelista scored her first modeling contract at 16 with Elite, a photographer told her she should cut her hair short. When French hairstylist Julien d’Ys chopped off her locks, she cried, claiming it looked like a “bowl cut with sideburns”. Months later, she landed an exclusive L’Oreal Paris contract and was one of the most sought-after models in the business.

Jean Paul Gaultier’s autumn/winter collection had a distinct air of contradiction. Contrasting textures, styles and cuts, which would have been otherwise looked unfavourably disjointed, united effortlessly under the helm of the Gaultier name. Harsh, military jackets and strong linear cuts paired off with coy, off-the-shoulder cuts, luxurious furs and flowing sheers skirts. The dark, moody colour palette also seamlessly blended the disparate looks, with swaths of oxblood, dark purple, greys and blacks adding a certain – dare we say it? –

sophistication to the collection.

Sequential block patterns invaded form-fitting dresses, studded leather jackets trespassed on whimsical sheer skirts, brass metallic golds and silvers usurped sleek feminine suits, and a floor-length deep purple sheer gown accepted the rule of jagged, linear black piping. It would seem in the land of Gaultier, juxtaposing futuristic, military Amazonian women with the glamorous, but traditional, femme fatale isn’t just rule of law – it’s plain common sense.

A lot can happen in two years. Back in 2011, Kenzo was better known for its poppy perfume bottle than its runway shows. Since taking over the reins, Opening Ceremony founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim have transformed the quintessential East-meets-West label into one of LVMH’s coolest, youngest brands. So how do you move on from that big splash, which saw their tiger-head sweatshirt sell more than 20,000 pieces since its launch last year? With big names, celeb clout and a well-constructed show that’ll play to both the flashy Tumblr crowd and the discerning industry insider.

Leon and Lim roped in Karlie Kloss and Lindsey Wixson for their autumn/winter show and pulled their cool-kid strings and got M.I.A to whizz up a special mix, which incidentally served as a preview of a few new tracks.

(Great publicity, Maya!) Inspired by colours of Indian temples and the multi-coloured grosgrain ribbons favoured by Kenzo in the 70s, the clothes blended metallic jacquard and lamé, with a luxe edge added by extravagant use of shimmery gold – think New York gallery girl out for a night on the town in Goa.

The bomber jacket with raglan sleeves and brocade suiting were a particular highlight, and emphasises everything so great about Kenzo right now – that kind of casual, cool-kid insouciance which has got people flocking to the shops. And as for those on the lookout for the next tiger-head sweatshirt? That honour goes to the black sweatshirt with the third eye logo. You’ve been warned.

Karlie Kloss and Ryan McGinley Behind the Scenes

Clad in Chloé and set against a vast expanse of rocky canyons, American beauty Karlie Kloss strikes a pose for the talented Ryan McGinley in the new campaign for the Mercedes-Benz Concept Style Coupe. The A/W 2013 ‘Untamed’ visual is the latest in a stunning series of eye-catching visuals that celebrate the design and style credentials of the luxury brand. Previously, Terry Richardson captured Jessica Stam on the roof of the A-class car and Mario Testino shot Joan Smalls for the CLS Shooting Brake.

We have to say, we’re fans of both the girl and the horse – it’s not every day that a regular fashion princess gets her very own white steed.
