Acne Pre Fall has arrived in a sea of sandy tones and shocks of colour.

Acne Pre Fall is just a little bit dreamy. We might overuse that word but it’s really very true. The perfect mix between ladylike and just a hint trashy, it combines the two sides of ourselves. Think patent white leather, snakeskin prints, scruffy patchwork and smatterings of acid green all translated onto sensible height heels, loafers, dress coats and scarves the length of hallway carpet runners.

From sandy beige to burnt umber, brown was very much on the brain for Pre Fall 16 and though on paper it might be the most boring colour in the book, Acne managed to combine shades and materials for fiery looks. The pieces worth saving your pennies for? Snakeskin knee high boots (well, duh), a velvet bra slip with a super slinky back, the ragged orange thread jumper and if you’re a little more conservative, the manila envelope coloured coat with yellow stitching and pinstripes that looks like it’s made out of recycled paper – in a good way, of course.

Jonny Johansson brings together everything he loves about music to Acne womenswear this SS16

A musical thanksgiving

Acne Studio’s Creative Director, Jonny Johansson, pays the ultimate homage to the world of music. A binding of everything he has known and loved about music in the present and past, the collection works a reoccurring motif of coloured CD prints in green, purple, blue and red. Dominating Perspex guitar badges are attached to the backs and fronts of tops and the classic 80’s shoulder padded blazer. Cobalt blue and red standout this season, as well as the use of velvet that appears spontaneously throughout the collection. Favourite looks from this season are – without doubt – the black white and red blazer and the (totally unprecedented) bright red velvet dress, paired with thigh-high red crocodile effect boots and black statement sunglasses. The ultimate iconic rockstar get-up.

Daredevil DIY

Acne has created this response to music in a way that appears thrown together; adjusted and revamped at home. It almost acts as a sacrificial offering, as though it were made by the everyday music worshipper that simply wants to express their passion. Knitwear gives the impression it’s been deliberately clawed to create holes for effect. Likewise, the sandal footwear that covers the ankles like a boot but exposes the toes is built upon a thick sole that looks as though it is made from layered cardboard. There’s a playfulness behind the theme, it’s almost endearing. Like all generations that have been and gone, fashion on the catwalks and back at home has always mimicked the styles of our best-loved musical icons.

Acne Studios founder and designer Jonny Johansson found his new muse at home, running around being imaginative and open-minded. In Frasse he saw the new generation’s attitude to fashion, explaining how “he embodies this new breed to me”.

Posing in women’s clothing to create experimental looks Frasse encompasses the no-fear, no-limits, and no-boundaries outlook on fashion that our youth has growing up today. Tight waistcoats and 6 inch heels might not be ideal when it comes to comfort for Frasse but they definitely make a successful campaign for Acne Studios this Autumn/Winter.

Soon to be used for advertising in New York, Paris, London, and Hong Kong after the collection becomes available from the 10th of September, we won’t be surprised if pastels become big with boys.

Offering up a palette of beige, indigo, black and white to accentuate Acne’s chosen domineering colours of hot pink and saucy red, the Resort 16 collection a testament to soft, frayed linens and silks in a context of modern shapes. Stand out looks include the slitted wrap dress of beige and white stripes contrasted with a pink colour block, blue striped shirts paired with blue denim and the simply red leather coat. Cubist coloured patchworks meet halfway with the constant stripe motifs that run throughout, and contrasting fabrics of linen and organza silk reiterate the modernist melange. Each look, a statement of individuality is not without a statement of shaped colour, meanwhile chokers, white pumps and frayed pointed heels prove that Acne want to deliver something a little different for Resort 16 collection, something with an edge.

We preview the Acne Pre-Fall 2014 womenswear collection.

1

The Acne Pre-Fall 2014 collection was inspired by creative director Jonny Johansson’s days spent at his beach house just off the coast of Sweden in the fall and winter. The colour palette is made up of earthy greens and chocolate browns inspired by the sea and the forest, all on variations of shearling, boiled wool and neoprene, the silhouette is loose, layered and cool.
Acne designs always have an urban, cool feel about them and they didn’t disappoint for the transitional season, the outerwear was on point as per, especially the cropped shearling jacket with the double collar and the fluffy moto jacket.
Some pieces had an added naïve feel with prints and appliqué inspired by floral cut-outs by Johansson’s son, cute.

In honour of this season’s most daring, dom accessory, Hit List takes to the fashion arena with the sexiest, flirt-to-the-death gladiator sandals on the market.

Office FORUM GLADIATOR 13535 10060 £48 MARCH

Office Forum Gladiator White Leather Sandals

First out of the gates are wedged sandals by the always reliable Office. The white leather plays the to the monochrome trend, but is more airy in the face of heat than heavy black. And unlike some sandals that seem to fall apart at first step, these strappies are comfortable and sturdy, providing a surprising amount of support.

Available for £48 from Office.co.uk

MariosSchwabblackglads

Marios Schwab Black Gladiator Sandals

Black, strappy and full of fringe. Who needs 5-inch heels to romp around when the metal buckle and funky fringe can play up any summer dress or tailored suit? Though they may be flats, it’s clear these Marios Schwab sandals are the party-hard players of the bunch.

Available for £245 from Avenue32.com

ACNE £850 @ SHOESCRIBE

Acne Gladiator Chunky Sole Sandals

Acne prevailed in making a dominatrix dream shoe fit for the more coy among us. The up-to-the-knee layered straps of jet black PVC make for an imposing structure, but the chunky, sparkled platform soles give comfort and support — in addition to bad-ass sex appeal. These boots are made for walking all over…

StuartW_GLADIATOR_truffle_F

Stuart Weitzman Gladiator Wedges in Truffle

Acne_Main_SS13_Lila_Nude

Acne Lila Nude Gladiator Heels

While they’re not pushing boundaries like the PVC bad boys above, these Lila Nude ankle boots by Acne make a statement all of their own. The straps add some biker chic to the sweet nude colour, and the enormous pink jelly heeled soles bring funk back to the present.

Available for £450 from Acne Studios

Topshop Rafferty High Gladiator Sandal

While lower on the price scale, Topshop managed to create one of the more chic heels of the bunch. For today’s In Profile, we shoot the dashing Jonathan Bailey — the  face behind Campus and ITV’s new crime drama Broadchurch.

JonathanBaileyActorInProfile

When we sat down with Jonathan Bailey, we weren’t sure what, or who, to expect — the goofball anti-academic in the short-lived (and well loved) Campus, the pensive and radical thinker Leonardo Da Vinci (yep, he’s another one) in BBC’s Leonardo, or the hardline budding journo in ITV’s hit Broadchurch. Turns out, he’s just a really cool, talented dude — it’s not called acting for nothing.

What’s the one item of clothing you’d never wear?

A catsuit. Or clogs.

Leonardo da Vinci or Leonardo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Da Vinci. The original super hero.

When are you happiest?

When listening to music on the move.

What’s your earliest memory?

Throwing a cup of ribena on my sister.

Comedy or drama?

Comedy – nice and easy to dip into.

What instrument would you play in a band?

I’d play my recently purchased cello… badly.

We’re right in the thick of the autumn/winter show season, but that doesn’t mean we’re quite done with spring/summer yet – here are the trends you can expect to see trickling down from the runway as the weather (hopefully) starts to heat up.

Burberry, Simone Rocha and Jonathan Saunders Spring/Summer 2013 Metallic Trend
1. Metal Mania

Sequins and studs are no longer constricted to nighttime debauchery. This season, sparkling clusters and metallic sheens meant for daytime revelry prevailed at Burberry and Jonathan Saunders. Along with diamond whites, SS13 revels in jewel tones – fiery reds, sapphire blues, deep purples and emerald greens. So remember the rule of summer: the shinier, the better.

Designers to follow: Burberry, Jonathan Saunders, Simone Rocha, Fendi, Alexander Wang

Mary Katrantzou, House of Holland and Holly Fulton Spring/Summer 2013 Print Trends
2. Psychedelic Prints

It’s time to get in touch with your untapped subconscious, because psychedelia was all over the spring/summer runway. House of Holland released a glamorous but daring collection full of hallucinogenic yellows, peace-loving purples and acid greens, while Mary Katrantzou and Holly Fulton concentrated on abstracted, Pollock-like patterns. Ditch your inner wallflower, because this trend is loud and proud.

Designers to follow: House of Holland, Mary Katrantzou, Holly Fulton, Proenza Schouler, Peter Pilotto

Christopher Kane, Stella McCartney and Versus Spring/Summer 2013 Trends: Biker and bomber jackets
3. Biker, Bomber Jackets

For the indispensable key item for this season, may we suggest the biker or bomber jacket? These jackets toughen traditionally sweet and feminine looks, plus they’ll keep you toasty in the typically freezing English springtime. Stella McCartney and Christopher Kane provide sporty, relaxed bombers while Versus biker jackets will release the beach babe badass in you.

Designers to follow: Stella McCartney, Christopher Kane, Antipodium, Versus, Daks

Vivienne Westwood, Kinder Aggugini, Erdem Spring/Summer 2013 Floral Runway Trends
4. Flora and Fauna

Of course it wouldn’t be spring without floral prints bloomin’ everywhere. But these aren’t your Grandma-on-Easter-Sunday florals; these are floral prints on acid. Vibrant colours and intricate motifs cascade down skirts at Dior, on trousers at Erdem, and on the heads of Vivienne Westwood models. But it’s not just flowers on display; garden critters litter the fashion landscape, from snakeskin to bird motifs. So take a risk on one of the most traditional spring trends in fashion; we promise you won’t be disappointed.

Designers to follow: Vivienne Westwood, Erdem, Christian Dior, Valentino, Kinder Aggugini

Acne, Louis Vuitton and Chanel Spring/Summer 2013 Monochrome Runway Trend
5. Chic Monochrome

Don’t worry if colourful prints and metallics aren’t your thing – another runway trend is monochrome. Black and white pairings dominated the runways of Louis Vuitton, Acne, and Chanel. But this trend is anything but boring; in fact, instead of blending with the bushes or graffiti, monochrome is the standout trend here, appearing as stripes and standout checks.

Designers to follow: Acne, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Balenciaga, Eudon Choi

Topshop Unique, Ashish, JW Anderson Spring/Summer 2013 90 Sporty Runway Trend
6. Nineties Sport

When we long for warm, summer days (particularly with the recent, sub-zero weather forecast), we usually envision the bare midriffs and over classic nineties coming-of-age film. Luckily, the SS13 trend of nineties sport plays perfectly to our idea of a casual summer. Topshop Unique, JW Anderson and others reveled in nineties nostalgia, from oversized cloth jumpers, neon jersey and grunge-inspired mesh jackets. So dust off those old dungarees: the nineties is, like, totally back.

Designers to follow: Topshop Unique, Ashish, JW Anderson, Richard Nicoll, Antonio Berardi

Lacoste, Michael Kors, Stella McCartney Spring/Summer 2013 Androgyny Runway Trend
7. Gender Mix

Girly to gamine is the theme of spring and summer fashion. From Michael Kors to Stella McCartney, designers mixed feminine, whimsical looks with straight-edged, androgynous cuts, allowing for day-to-day role-play. Whether you mix tea dresses with biker jackets or tailored suits with bare-midriffs, shake up those conformist gender norms, because this season it’s all about exploring the layers of modern womanhood.

Designers to follow: Michael Kors, Lacoste. Acne, Stella McCartney, Thomas Tait
