Michael Lewis was approached by Tom Ford in February, this year; he has worked as a consultant for Toms womenswear, which launches in September; won NEWGEN Award from The British Fashion Council; currently consults for Loewe, Jaeger London and Versace; and has a collection that bears his name that is now in its second season.
We catch up with him….
Wonderland: Describe the favourite piece you have made…
Michael Lewis: Camaro, the sandal from my Autumn/Winter 2010 collection, was one of the best selling shoes for the season and its also one of my favourites. I love the graphic lines and the contrast in textures between the elastic and the leather. Inspired by 80’s car culture and the bold graphics of Bodymap, the A/W collection features statement designs and muted colours to ensure I have a balance of ornate and wearable shoes, whilst of course incorporating my signature platform sole.
W: What time are you up and working on a normal day?
ML: My dogs Ludivic and Harry tend to wake me up early, I then work in my studio or with clients until around 8-9pm.
W: Do you take a lunch break or eat at your desk?
ML: If I am having an extremely busy day I will have lunch at my desk, but if I have an opportunity to go out me and my team will go to either a deli in Belsize village or a cafe in Hampstead
W: Who are your stockists?
