FLOWER POWER

kenzo2kenzo4

The Kenzo brand have a long association with keeping things natural and, for one of their newest fragrances, Flower, they have taken their green approach to a new level.  The Flower bottles have removable tops which mean the bottles can be opened and refilled using refill pouches which are on sale now.  The pouches themselves (similar in style to ready made cocktail pouches - though it’s not a good idea to drink the perfume!) are resealable meaning a 50ml refill can be used for a smaller bottle and then stored until needed.  Furthermore, the packaging is made from recyclable materials making refilling environmentally friendly.  Kenzo stores will also soon have ‘Flower fountains’ which mean Flower bottles can be refilled in store.

To celebrate their 40th anniversary Kenzo has produced these super cute scarves. The flower print has been taken from a Kenzo archive dress from the 1980s.

Scarves cost £142 and are available in Kenzo stores from July. There will be more anniversary products throughout 2010.

Village Press: Press Day

01-04-10-by-alistair-guy-10-005

Village Press, being based in Clerkenwell, is a bit of a shlep. Not for everyone but, certainly, for west London dwellers like myself. But they are all such fun-types, and presented guests with a big slab of cheese (I don’t mean this metaphorically), but the type you put on oak cakes - also provided.

I know it is A/W collections we are viewing, but there was a large amount of knitwear on selection at Village - something that fills me with excitement. Patrick is all cosy in some YMC in the top pic, although granted what he is holding up is actually sequin (a bit of Ashish). Some Lou Dalton knitted accessories are also pictured on the shelving (below).

Rag and Bone, who I hear are ‘big right now’ also provide a good line in knitwear (below).

But Village is not all about knits, they are about shoes: Robert Clergerie, classic Parisian; Duffles, the original Gloverall; hats, Bernstock Speirs; and ready-to-wear: Cacharel, Betty Jackson and Kenzo.

Kenzo’s show yesterday was a patchwork of prints and fabrics: jacquard wools, plaid and tartans were came together in loose, non-restricted sheets.

See the premier and dernier looks.

London Fashion Week: Kenzo Black Cab

This black cab decorated in Antonio Marras’s S/S10 prints was spotted bringing a bit of colour to grey London, this week.

A/W10-11 Menswear - Kenzo

kzo_mm_2010-11_1975

London is improving in its appreciation to our beloved fashion - but I’ll always remember as a work experience crossing the road, with a very senior fashion journalist during Haute Couture. Whilst recklessly dragging me straight in the line of moving cars, she declared: “the thing about France is they all love fashion…traffic even stops for it!” I’ll always cherish this because it was so brilliant, exciting and new.

Luckily for me the traffic did stop, so I’m still here to tell the tale.

Tenuously, here you see a very example of that: Kenzo took to the roads of Paris for their Autumn and Winter fashion show. Yes, the cars were part of the show, but - where in London would you see that?Piccadilly? I don’t think so.

I wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of that bus mind, Paris or not.

SHOPPERS DELIGHT

kenzo1

Kenzo are not a brand that rest on their laurels.  Not content with recently renovating their entire worldwide network (Kenzo opened more than 60 stores over the last 24 months), the fashion and fragrance house have now launched their first extensive online store.

Effectively a new flagship store - but online - shoppers can now gain access to a large selection of ready to wear women’s, men’s and childrenswear as well as fragrances and fabric and leather accessories.  All on offer at 24 hours a day.

Village Press Press Day

patrick-loume-lou

It was dress up Friday today. I simply adore making poor Patrick dress up - although you can see how much he loves it. Here (left) he is modelling a hat by Bernstock and Speirs for Lou Dalton - BS are enjoying a renascence, right now. And have a whole new collection to service it. Right you can see me wearing some Lou Dalton for Linda Farrow.

ashishkenzocacharel

Above left we have Ahsish, who I love. He is sequin-heavy again for S/S10 - something he does brilliantly. There were world maps on tops; grey sweaters, with bum-bags built in; fabulous trousers - that were also given the sequin treatment; and lots of seriously studded things, like the denim dress (above), as well as leather and denim jackets.

Kenzo’s new store has now opened in London (they will be launching it soon), and the collection, which was given a designated room yesterday, was strong. These booties (pictured middle top) stood out.

Cacharel is always very pretty, however, normally, a label I would walk straight by on a press day. But the S/S10 collection looked really great: the handsome Cedric Charlier is now in charge. He used to be Alber Elbaz’s right-hand-man at Lanvin. The training shows: although you can’t make out from the pic (top right), but what he has done with the prints, and modernising the silhouettes - that carry them - is meritorious.

Finally we have Robert Clergerie - he is widely known as being responsible for putting women in brogues. Very relevent now!

cimg2729Show Invitation

I arrived at the Louis Vuitton show space at 2.35 and was rushed in to my seat as the show was about to start! Since Marc’s late Marc Jacobs show in NYF a few seasons ago his shows are  ALWAYS on time. The lights went down and the excitement started….

cimg27321

The tent was in total darkness apart from the back lite fantasy skyline and a follow spot on each girl as they marched down the catwalk with huge Afro’s looking like travelling Anime characters from a distant land of make believe that I want to visit…

The collection was AMAZING! I really loved it, the colours prints and fabrics were a lot of fun and I personally really want the duffel bag and the multi coloured fox tails.

Hermes by Jean Paul Gaultier - Show started at 7.25pm

cimg27601

When walking into the show space at Hermes the smell of wet grass filled the air and it didn’t take a brain surgeon to guess the theme of the show. Tennis anyone?

Eva Herzigova opened and closed the show, I really liked the tailored shorts and fine leather jackets and hot pants, the colour palette was a mix of neutral shades with touches of sky blue and classic navy and black. On my showroom appointment the next day i spotted a few accessories that are going on my must have list for the season.

Show Inviataion - Action!

Galliano’s show was another jaw dropping experience, a visual treat of lazers and smoke filled bubbles exploding in to mist on impact. The collection was a gentle soft woman layered in silk and lace, a romantic mood that fit the seasons well.
