BEST OF BEAUTY

Porcelain-doll skin, metallic accents, bedazzled nails, & more — these were the best beauty productions of 2024’s Met Gala.

For celebrities and beauty artists, the Met Gala often feels like the couture of red carpets. It’s a place for experimentation, where being camp is cool, and no-makeup makeup looks are definitely underrated. Following this year’s dress code, “Garden of Time,” florals and whimsical touches unsurprisingly took over the red carpet. But for some less literal interpretations, the museum stairs were also a place for funky hairstyles (metallic-coloured, even…), fresh-from-the-runway makeup inspirations, bedazzled nails, and everything in between. Here’s Wonderland’s roundup of our favourite beauty looks of the night. Keep scrolling…

Zendaya

The woman of the hour, Zendaya knew that her Met Gala appearance would have to be a full serve this year. And she did not disappoint. Created by longtime collaborator Raoul Alejandre, her first (and most impactful) makeup look was a ’20s-inspired burgundy smokey eye, paired with super thin eyebrows and bloody-and-shiny lips. We’re obsessed!

Sydney Sweeney

Anyone But You star Sydney Sweeney gave her blond locks a break for the Met Gala, rocking a full transformation with a black bob wig. The look was created by celebrity-favourite hairstylist Glen Oropeza.

FKA Twigs

Why use highlighter when you can have shiny bedazzles all over your face? From hair to skin, FKA Twigs looked absolutely stunning for last night’s Met.

Lil Nas X

“When the garden flows, it produces diamonds,” wrote Lil Nas X’s nail stylist Temeka Jackson on Instagram. For the big night, he rocked a set of opulent square-shaped nails, adorned with 50,000 Swarovski crystals.

Charli XCX

@charli_xcx

With beauty by everyone’s favourite MUA, Isamaya Ffrench, Charli XCX was a modern-age punk star for this year’s Met Gala. Think spiked hair, burgundy-but-almost-black lipstick, and a cold smoky eye… but make it very chic.

Amelia Gray

@ameliagray

Instagram’s favourite fashion girl Amelia Gray looked otherworldly for this year’s Met Gala, dressing up as a walking terrarium in its most literal form. So, clearly, her makeup had to be moist-infused. With sleek, neck-glued wet hair that went all the way to her waist, fuchsia lips, and a post-yoga-looking skin, the model stunned in her debut Met red carpet.

Emma Chamberlain

Emma Chamberlain brought her coffee obsession to the red carpet for her Met look, in a full monochromatic and dark-brown look, from gown to makeup. With a Y2K flair, she matched deep-toned smokey eyes with ultra-lined lips, by makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan, and a modern take on the traditional sleek hair.
