DUTCH CRIMINAL RECORD – “NOW OR NEVER”

The Brighton-based trio unveil breezy, sun-soaked, new beach-indie track, “Now or Never”.

Dutch Criminal Record—a dynamic trio consisting of Sam Thrussell, Joe Frampton, and Joe Delaney-Stone—has cultivated a robust TikTok following of 500,000 avid fans, amassing over 10 million streams and gracing prestigious stages at SXSW and Stag & Dagger Festival. The Chichester-based ensemble is now unleashing a torrent of new music, heralding their latest and highly anticipated single.

Their new track, “Now or Never,” bursts with infectious melodies and effervescent guitar riffs, exuding a vibrant energy tailor-made for the sun-soaked summer season. The song is drenched in atmospheric reverb, imbuing it with a captivating dreaminess that complements the bittersweet lyrics. The band’s masterful blend of 60s pop-inspired harmonies with expansive, contemporary production creates an audacious yet comforting sonic landscape.

Reflecting on the single, vocalist and writer of the track, Sam Thrussell explains, “’Now or Never’ began life very differently – as a little acoustic guitar demo I made. I used a tuning that I had adapted from a John Fahey piece I was learning at the time (DGDF#AD) and was inspired by M. Ward’s ‘The First Time I Ran Away’! I showed the band and they both were adamant it could be adapted into a full band DCR tune, which is where we added the dreamy intro and the heavy (by our standards) rock out at the end! The song itself is about acknowledging your mistakes and shortcomings and hopefully becoming a better person from that as a result.”
