ZENDAYA & LAW SCORE AGAIN

For this year’s Met Gala, all eyes were on Hollywood’s most hyped fashion duo — and they proved once again that no one understands the assignment like they do.

Zendaya. Law Roach. John Galliano. Pat McGrath. Try to name a more powerful combo, and we’ll wait… For this year’s Met Gala, all eyes were on the Challenger’s star — who’s also one of the event’s co-hosts, with Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, and Jennifer Lopez — and we buzzed in anticipation counting the days to lay our eyes on her take on the big night’s theme, “Garden in Time.” And let’s just say, no one is disappointed.

Making her first appearance on the museum’s iconic stairs since 2017, Zendaya crossed the red carpet this evening in a peacock-coloured custom Maison Margiela gown by John Galliano. On Twitter, fashion aficionados speculated that the look was inspired by a Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring 1999 dress, paired with a headpiece by Stephen Jones for Maison Margiela and makeup by the iconic Pat McGrath. The beauty look, a fresh-from-the-runway and more real-life appropriate take on Margiela’s already history-making production from its last Couture show — porcelain doll skin, anyone?

According to the brand’s press release, the look consisted of a “sage lamé and organza bias-cut dress worn over a duchess satin corset.” The piece also featured bands of hand-painted metallic crin, “a drape and bow layered from aluminium material and iridescent organza, and a corsage hand-embroidered with natural motifs hand-painted in electric blue and emerald green.” The cherry on top? Custom-made Tabi pumps by Christian Louboutin for Maison Margiela. To say we’re obsessed is an understatement!
