Halle Bailey is establishing herself as a powerhouse in the musical realm, following her critically acclaimed performance in Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid and, more recently, for her role in Oprah and Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of The Color Purple. But she’s not done yet.

Now, she will be lending her breathtaking vocals to Pharrell Williams and Michael Gondry’s new production with Universal, which is still untitled. She’ll be joining Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Kelvin Harrison Jr.

A coming-of-age story, this period feature is set in the summer of 1977 in Virginia Beach, inspired by Atlantis Apartments, Pharrell’s childhood neighbourhood. Martin Hynes and Steven Levenson, known for Toy Story 4, are the creative minds behind the script. We’re still in the early production stages, but given her stellar track record, it’s easy to predict another hit for Bailey!
