With the start of each new year, Sunday evenings take on a new significance for pop culture enthusiasts as celebrities grace red carpets across Europe and the US for the official awards season, week after week. Yesterday, it was the British filmmaking industry’s turn to honour the best of 2023’s scene, as an A-list of invitees descended upon the Royal Festival Hall in London for the 77th BAFTA Film Awards.

But if you think the only similarity between these events is their guest lists and the Barbie-Oppenheimer-drenched nominations, we might prove you wrong. When it came to fashion choices this year, stylists and celebrities themselves were all about the powerful and passionate palette of reds, playing with shapes, tones, textures, and everything that comes with it. At yesterday’s BAFTAs, Dua Lipa rocked a classic saturated Custom Valentino pleated red gown, sharing the carpet with Andrew Scott in a monochromatic head-to-toe red outfit. The same colour was chosen by industry peers India Amarteifio, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Lashana Lynch, Adjoa Andoh, Fantasia Barrino, and Joy Sunday — believe it or not, the list could still go on and on.

At the Golden Globes, all eyes were on The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri while she crossed the maroon carpet in a perfectly constructed Prada red-midi piece, and our favourite Daisy Jones & The Six duo Camila Morrone and Suki Waterhouse had us giggling with their matching voluminous red numbers at this year’s GRAMMYs. Keep scrolling for a full roundup of our 2024 favourites, and don’t hesitate to add some colour to your wardrobe this spring!
