HENRY MOODIE

The TikTok sensation graces us with his debut single, along with exciting plans for 2024…

At just 19 years old, Henry Moodie is already making waves in the music industry. With over 160 million streams worldwide and a well earned spot among the Top 10 most viewed UK artists on TikTok in 2022, he’s solidifying his position in the scene alongside household names.

Having fine tuned his craft during his time at the prestigious BIMM music school, Henry has emerged as a solo artist with an incredible knack for emotive vulnerability and timeless lyrics. His debut single, “You Were There For Me”, has resonated deeply with audiences, setting the stage for subsequent hits like “drunk text” and “eighteen.”

After successfully gathering masses at his headline show with the Azar app, and as he prepares to release a new EP this year, Henry Moodie is poised for realms of success, with exciting horizons furthering his reputation as one of the UK’s most promising pop talents. We had the honour of sitting down with the rising star to talk about his early days, how social media has aided his career, and his big plans for 2024.

Learn more about Azar here.

Hey Henry! How’s your start to 2024 been?
Hey! The start of my 2024 has been great! I’ve spent most days in the studio working on new music and I’m so gassed for everyone to hear it.

When did you start creating music and how has your sound evolved since?
I started making music when I was about 12 years old in my bedroom, learning how to write and produce. And then I took it into London when I was 14 to do sessions on the weekends. I joined a band when I was 15 for two years, and then went to a songwriting course in London when I was 17. My music has evolved so much over the years, but I’d like to think it’s always been vulnerable since day one!

What role has social media played in your career? Can you speak a bit about the opportunities and challenges that such platforms can create?
I would be nowhere if it wasn’t for social media. My first song blew up because of TikTok and I’m so grateful for all the support of everyone online! I love the fact that social media can bring so many people together from across the world, however, I’m very aware that it is also a very toxic thing for our generation (I’ve already noticed my attention span getting shorter each year) – but I try my best to keep my social media as positive and healthy as possible.

How did you get involved with the Azar app and what drew you to the platform?
When I heard that Azar was an app that brings friends together during one of the loneliest times of the year, I thought ‘this is amazing and I have to jump on it ASAP!’.

Why is this event meaningful and important to you?
It was such an amazing first gig of 2024! I haven’t done a headline show since July of 2023 so I was SUPER excited to reconnect with everyone that’s been supporting my music.

In your experience, in what ways have you found music able to help combat loneliness?
Sometimes music can describe exactly the feeling that you’re going through and fan culture brings so many groups people together! I read a DM the other day from somebody saying that my music has given them a whole new group of friends — that DM really made me realise why I do this.

What is the year ahead looking like for you? Anything you’re particularly excited about? Any goals?
The year ahead is looking pretty busy! I’m very excited to get out and travel and see all the people that have been supporting my music. It’s looking like UK, Europe, Asia, America and Australia this year which is so surreal! I’m definitely going to be putting out a lot more music, and maybe an EP, you’ll have to wait and see 😉
