BRING ON THE BRITS

It’s time to place your bets — the BRITS Awards nominees list is here!

Wonderland’s Spring 2023 Cover star, Raye.

Wonderland’s Spring 2023 Cover star, Raye.

From Dave and Central Cee’s smashing hit “Sprinter” to Raye’s My 21st Century Blues album, cult-crowd favourite Arlo Parks, and Jorja Smith’s highly anticipated comeback, 2023 was one for the books in British music. And what better moment to remember and award the hottest names of the season than the BRITS! With 96 nominees, this year’s celebration is the biggest and most inclusive one to date, opening five of the categories to public vote and officialising the committee’s commitment to promoting a greener industry. It’s set to be the most environmentally-conscious BRITS ever by supporting the movement “No Music On A Dead Planet.”

The nominees’ announcement ceremony also marked record-breaking moments in BRITS history. With 7 nominations, Raye secures the position as the most-nominated singer for a given year in the awards’ history. In 2024, there is a renewed focus on empowering and recognising women in music, after 2023’s gender-based backlash — when no female artists were nominated for “Artist of the Year”, one of the most important categories. In addition, they aim to correct last year’s exclusion of any R&B nominations in the “Pop and R&B” category. Lastly, this year, the number of nominees chosen for both British and International Artist of the Year has increased from five to 10.
