KARL LAGERFELD: A LIFE IN HOUSES

Celebrating the late designer’s impeccable interiors, the new publication is the first of its kind to focus on Karl Lagerfeld’s homes.

Out today, Karl Lagerfeld: A Life in Houses is the first publication dedicated to the late fashion designer’s remarkable homes. From Paris to Biarritz to Rome to Hamburg, the houses and apartments are known for their one-of-a-kind interiors — with influences ranging from Art Deco to modern. Though he was most famous for his position at the helm of all things fashion — working at Chanel, Chloé, and Fendi — he was equally as knowledgeable (and opinionated!) about interior design. Collecting art and furniture from Art Deco to 18th Century antiques, he designed each home differently and, as a result, infused each with its own personality and aura.

The large-scale coffee table book showcases imagery by renowned photographers such as Horst P. Horst, Karen Radkai, Oberto Gili, and even Karl Lagerfeld himself. With an introduction by Patrick Mauriès, each house is introduced by Marie Kalt with information on its history, key designers, and important pieces.

Karl Lagerfeld: A Life in Houses by Patrick Mauriès and Marie Kalt is out now.
