Multi-faceted talent Will Heard has been swiftly rising through the ranks since emerging towards the backend of the last decade. His debut EP, “Trust”, set out a clear sonic identity, which Heard has since built on and refined. It’s been announced that the singer-songwriter will be releasing his debut album later this year, and we were teased with a first offering from the LP earlier this year in the form of “Flashlight”, a slick and engrossing number that reflected an impressive artistic progression from the London-based artist.

We are pleased to premiere a second glimpse at the highly anticipated forthcoming album. The new single, entitled “Wasteman” is an effortless merging of R&B and hip hop, with its creamy production and sweeping instrumentation. The track is written by Heard alongside Amir Amor (Rudimental), and Natalie Dunn (Charlie XCX, Anne-Marie), and is produced by Linden Jay (Doja Cat, Stormzy, Chlöe Bailey), Lyrically, Heard flaunts his thematic dexterity, plunging listeners into a personal tale of self-discovering, enpowerment and self-love. The singer’s performance is nothing short of show-stopping, delivering a powerful turn that brings added depth to the anthemic cut.

Speaking on the singer, the artist comments, “”Wasteman” is a song inspired by our mash up culture. I got sucked into a world of relentless partying. Sleepless nights and a lot of substance abuse made me want to change. Alcohol and drugs helped me in social situations so I tended to end up taking something. I had to relearn how to be with out substances because I wanted to be better. It’s a vicious cycle that’s hard to break. I guess you could say this is a self love tune. Realising time is so precious being constructive and learning makes me happiest. Health is wealth baby!”
