NEW NOISE: ST. LUNDI

Amassing over 50 million+ streams on previous singles and making huge strives in his solo career, we got to know the exceptionally talented singer-songwriter offering heartfelt and enriched tracks…

St. Lundi, known for his captivating vocals on hits by Kygo and Seeb, is making waves with his own solo career. Following the success of his breakout single ‘Nights Like These’, which garnered over 50 million streams, St. Lundi continues to shine with his latest release, “Fall”.

The anthem blends indie-folk acoustic guitars, lively drums, and an irresistible pop hook. Inspired by his brother, the song carries a powerful message of unwavering support. St. Lundi’s social media showcases his roots, and he’s set to perform at the Victorious Festival in Portsmouth. With an impressive resume, including performances alongside Kodaline and Justin Jesso, St. Lundi is an artist on the rise.

Speaking on the project, St. Lundi explains, “I wrote “Fall” for my brother. We were always there for each other growing up – we’d talk about our grazed knees through falling over in the playground and give advice on crushes at school, brotherly support was just a bedroom door away! As we’ve grown older, we’ve grown apart and in recent years he’s been going through some hard times. I wrote this song as a way of letting him know I’ll always be there, no matter what obstacle we have to overcome!”

We sat down with St. Lundi to dive into biggest music inspirations, new single “Fall” and his next big moves…

Listen to “Fall” now…

Hey! How are you? What does a day in your life look like right now?
Hey! I’m good, thank you. I’ve actually just got back from a week in Greece so I’m feeling refreshed and ready to get back to work!

A day in my life right now is probably going to sound quite boring hahah! Compared to last year when I played 70 shows and was touring everywhere.

I’d say a day in my life right now is, wake up, run, coffee and then sit at my piano for hours haha. I’m sorry, I wish it was more interesting for you!

Tell us about your early days in the industry. How did you first get into music?
So I actually only wrote my first song and started singing when I was about 19 years old! I’ve loved music my whole life and played guitar from the age of 12 but was never confident enough to actually sing anything! Once I’d played my first open mic night and played my own songs I fell in love with writing and performing. I soon after quit my job, left my home where I lived with my grandparents and moved to London on a whim to pursue music, which was crazy now I look back on it but I’m so happy I did!

Who are your biggest inspirations? Both in your personal and professional life?
Musically, Coldplay are a huge inspiration for me. I went to one of their Wembley stadium shows last year and the feeling of being there and being a part of that crowd is incomparable with anything I have ever felt before. It really is magic!

In my personal life I’d say one of the biggest inspirations is actually my 7 year old brother Rupert! Ever since he was born I’ve wanted to do my best to show him anything is possible and hopefully be a good role model for him as he’s growing up. I guess from all of that he inspires me to be try to be the best version of myself.

How would you describe the essence of your sound?
My songs are often driven by love! I’m a sucker for love haha. Every song I write is about personal experience so there’s a lot of truth in the songs. I really love trying to find new melodic hooks to tell those stories with.

Your hits with Kygo and SeeB excelled! What was it like to work with these artists? How did it pivot your career?
Ahh it was amazing to work with both Kygo and Seeb! It was sooo early into me releasing songs and I honestly didn’t know how big it was to do those collabs so early on as I’d never really listened to a lot of dance music! I remember just feeling so excited at making music that I loved with other people for the first time as I’d never really written songs with other people long before those collaborations.

I learnt from writing those songs how much I love writing really melodic hooks and anthemic feeling tracks and that has definitely go on to impact the songs I’ve been writing and releasing since.

Congratulations on your latest single, “Fall”. Can you delve deeper into its message and the creative process behind it?
Ah thank you so much! I started writing ‘Fall’ nearly 2 years ago with some good friends of mine called Matt, Jack and Theo who are also known as the band ‘Tors’.

At the time of writing the song my brother was struggling a little in life and I really wanted to tell him I was there for him and not just ”you can call me whenever you need” but really tell him how much I loved him and was there to help! But for some reason when you grow up into adults it’s easy to grow apart and it’s not easy to open up like that sometimes. So I did what I know best and wrote a song with everything I felt so that he could hear it and know that’s how I felt.

We could have ended up with a more down tempo and dark sounding song but I really wanted it to feel more like a positive message and light at the end of the tunnel which is why the song sounds so upbeat and happy! I guess it’s also a celebration of being able to open up and tell someone you love them.

What do you want your listeners to feel when they stream your music?
I think anything at all is amazing. If I can sit at my piano and write something that will then for years and years to come, make someone somewhere feel something. That is magic!
I write all of my songs about personal experience and put my whole heart into all of them and I hope that because of that other people are able to hear and find their own stories within the songs. The ultimate goal is to get to a point where the song doesn’t belong to me anymore and there are people all around the world that have their own stories that are tied to that piece of music.

What is your opinion on the music industry and its relationship with social media?
That’s a really difficult question. It most definitely challenges me to explore a new side of myself and push myself out of my comfort zone more often which can be a good thing! However, it can also be tough if you’re an introvert and you’re trying to stand out on social media surrounded by millions of extroverts. You do start to feel pretty hopeless after a while. I think tiktok has opened a door for new and independent artists to one day be sat in there bedroom posting a song and weeks later have one of the biggest songs in the world and that is amazing!

I do sometimes wish though that it didn’t feel like the only way for an artist to succeed as I’m sure there’s so much talent out there still going under the radar because they’re not great with social media and that would be a shame.

What is this summer looking like for you? Any big plans?
I’m currently making my first album which is super exciting and so much work! Therefore my summer is going to be almost entirely spent on finishing all the writing and production on the album alongside playing some festivals booked in the UK which I’m really excited for!
I also think some time at home with the family is always needed so I will be making sure to include that.
