FASHION DISTRICT FESTIVAL

The esteemed festival announces its 2023 line-up, showcasing sustainable fashion and innovation in East London.

Supported by London College of Fashion, UAL, the six-day festival will take over the heart of the east end, Spitalfields Market, from 11 – 16 July. Expect over 40 events, including pop-ups, swap shops, styling masterclasses, upcycling workshops, and interactive experiences.

Visitors will have the chance to explore, learn, create, and network with leading conscious brands and digital businesses that are calling for collective action within UK’s fashion industry.

Building on east London’s heritage of fashion and creative reputation, Fashion District Festival is all about unpacking circular fashion and ways to style, mend and upcycle clothes.

LAUNCH SHOW
The launch show to the festival on 11 July is curated by Lee Lapthorne from On|Off and AGRO Studio, and will introduce some of London’s most promising emerging designers, combining physical and digital installations to create a truly unforgettable experience.

The week will also see further digital showcases from brands across the world, including The Fabricant, Syky and Institute of Digital Fashion.

POP-UP WITH DEPOP, THE ALTERIST, LOANHOOD AND MORE
There will be a collaborative retail pop-up located in a brand-new building at Number 1 Lamb St in Spitalfields. Hosting emerging and planet-positive designers and start-ups, the brands on show specialise in preloved, swapped, rented, and upcycled fashion, such as Depop, The Alterist, Loanhood, The Cirkel, Verte London, Circular Threads and The Seam.

On Saturday 15 July, specialist wardrobe care and repair service The Seam, will host an open house, where visitors can submit items for repair or alteration by makers in wardrobe care service The Seam’s network.

REPAIR, REUSE & RECYCLE WORKSHOPS
Calling all DIY enthusiasts, there will be a diverse programme of interactive events and workshops for all ages, including slow-fashion designer Lydia Bolton teaching embroidery techniques to breathe new life into old garments, to slow-fashion brand Revival London sharing ways to re-work preloved denim.

ROUNDTABLES FOR FASHION START-UPS
Fashion start-ups and SMEs can discover a series of roundtables, talks, and workshops that delve into multiple themes such as the circular economy, regenerative materials, digital fashion, design for the metaverse, early-stage investment and more.
