American Horror Story is back for its 12th season this summer and we can’t wait. As one of FX’s most successful shows, the horror anthology has won 16 Emmys and doesn’t appear to be slowing down with this season’s cast.

“Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian are delicate” reads the new teaser trailer, shared on both of the star’s Instagram accounts. Roberts is a frequent Ryan Murphy collaborator and fan-favourite AHS cast member (she was featured in “Coven”, “Freak Show”, “Cult”, “Apocalypse”, and “1984”), but the news of Kim Kardashian shocked the internet. Adding lead TV actress to her long list of titles — from businesswoman to lawyer to reality television star — this role will not only mark Kim’s debut in the series, but also serve as her biggest (scripted) acting part yet. And it was written specifically with her in mind.

Halley Feiffer, who has writing credits on past seasons, is the sole writer and showrunner for season 12. As always, this season has a theme. Following “Murder House”, “Asylum”, “Coven”, “Freak Show”, “Hotel”, “Roanoke”, “Cult”, “Apocalypse”, “1984”, “Double Feature”, and “NYC”, we have “Delicate”. It is rumoured to be derived from Danielle Valentine’s novel Delicate Condition, which will be out in August, likely around the same time of the show’s summer release. The book follows the story of a woman as she becomes convinced that someone is intentionally preventing her from getting pregnant. The more twisted the story gets and the more concerned she becomes, the less any of the men listen to her. A gripping thriller, it certainly seems very American Horror Story-esque.
