GRIPPA’s first EP, IS THAT HER?, charts the process of a breakup from the first song to the last. Her first single and the first track on the EP, “BEANS” sets the tone for the experimental project. An anthem dedicated to persevering through heartbreak, it balances a youthful spirit with hard truth, a duality that grows throughout the tracklist. Poetic lyrics and layered beats combine in harmony on “October Nights” and honest vulnerability shows through in “November”.

Moving through the EP, GRIPPA explores a variety of experimental styles combining features of musical theatre, non-bubblegum pop, and her own unique flair. The final song, “CRASH”, sets us up to listen to the EP once more, as it details how a relationship can restart.

Her accompanying music videos showcase both her strong vocals and her storytelling abilities. Scenes of GRIPPA singing to the camera with an earnest maturity and narrative scenes switch off in videos such as “Fish”, showing the breadth of the artist’s talents.
