At long last — the Grammys have arrived. It’s an evening where the music industry’s brightest stars gather under one roof, to be heralded for their respective delectable musical outputs from the last year. Anticipation has been mounting since the nominees were announced, and now we get to put the awards to their beautiful faces. From Beyoncé making Grammy history, and Kim Petras’ boundary-breaking win, to Viola Davis’ EGOT triumph — one thing’s for sure, it was a night to remember.

Let’s start this roundup in a blaze, with our history-making Queen Bey. The music maverick has been in the game for a hot minute, and the three accolades she swept up last night for RENAISSANCE were more than just last night’s victory. Set apart from the rest, as the most awarded artist in Grammy history, we simply tip our hats. It’s a crazy, huge feat — but we expect nothing less from our Virgo Queen.

Speaking of personal bests, our pop king Harry Styles made some history of his own. Amongst the several artists who dominated the evening with multiple wins, Styles became a three-time GRAMMY winner. His latest offering Harry’s House took the world by storm, and his Love On Tour tour rages on as one of the most successful in recent memory. We’re always glad to see Styles getting his flowers.

“I got EGOT!”

Actor, artist, and and all around Wonder Woman, Viola Davis, cemented her status as the ultimate role model last night. Slapping up the Best Audiobook award for the recording of her memoir Finding Me, Davis was just over the moon – exclaiming, “I got EGOT!” As the third black woman in history to achieve EGOT status — garnering an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony — is there anything Davis can’t do? This is no doubt the cherry on top of Davis’ career so far, and we couldn’t be more in awe.

Kim Petras

Next up is hyperpop princess Kim Petras, whose track “Unholy” alongside Sam Smith has lit the world on fire. Racketing to the top of the charts and cracking Petras into the mainstream — it comes as no surprise that the pair would end up taking the crown for Best Pop Duo. Not only is this a personal milestone, but a history-making one too. As the first transgender woman to ever win a prize in this category, she did the damn thing and we are oozing with pride.

Selfies for days

And while this may be trivial in the face of trailblazing achievements, we can’t deny that celeb selfies have a chokehold on us. Lizzo was snap-happy, taking pics with all of our favourite artists; so was Taylor Swift. What kind of news outlet would we be if we didn’t share these finds with you?
