The Swedish singer-songwriter Nea blazes into 2023 with almost a billion streams – flying solo. Marking a new chapter in her artistic journey, last year was a warm up – now it’s game time. First making waves as one of Sweden’s most revered songwriters, Nea’s pen has been lent to the likes of Zara Larsson, and Tinie Tempah. No biggie! Reaching diamond, platinum, and gold across the globe with songs that employ her writing chops – Nea has chosen to focus inward. Channeling her talent into a solo project, she shines.

Shaping the culture, Nea’s impact on Swedish pop is undeniable. This time around, she graces us with the raw, ‘90s grunge-inspired “A Lover Like Me”. This sound joins forces with Nea’s pop sensibilities, resulting in an addictive bonafide-hit. Thrashing drums propel the track into action, while Nea’s honey-like vocals hold it down. Brass instrumentals bubble under the surface, while the body-moving beat is the definition of vibrance. Coupled up with an equally energising music video, the moon shines over Nea herself, sitting at the shore. Reflecting on the track’s conception, Nea says: “Daniel and I wrote the song in a few hours. It just happened! Then I went home and did the vocals in my wardrobe booth. I love that the vocals aren’t perfect, that there’s an edge to it.”

“A Lover Like Me” has been unleashed into the world ahead of Nea’s upcoming album TRANSPARENT. Set to be released in the autumn, we’re eagerly awaiting what else Nea pulls out of the bag.
