“Forbidden Doors” is the newest output of the duo Tennis, made up of husband-and-wife Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley. They offer us, with this single, a glimpse at their sixth album Pollen set to be released on February 10th.

The American couple met in philosophy class at the University of Colorado in 2008 after dropping out of their respective music programs. They swiftly got back on track, as they started experimenting with sounds, creating DIY music. Tennis came a long way, toured the world, played at Coachella, and are now set to release their sixth album written during a four-month sailing excursion in the Sea of Cortez, Mexico.

Tennis conceived Pollen as a piece suited for radio, without following conventional pop structures; this album delves into vulnerability. Alaina and Moore took the pen, narrowing Pollen down to the smallest details of their lives — as they realised that to broaden their scope, they must turn inward.

Alaina recalls: “Sonically, ‘Forbidden Doors’ filled out something essential that was missing from the record. I took my time writing lyrics that fit the world without altering it. The music gave me a sense of driving away from something. Patrick and I have done a lot of that – trading one city skyline for another, releasing something to make room for what’s next.”

Reaching new heights after the breakthrough of songs such as “Runner” or “Need your Love”, the couple feels ready to hit the road again. An international live tour kicks off with a two-day Valentine’s Day special in London’s historic Islington Assembly Hall, on February 14th and 15th. Their appearance in London will be followed by their biggest tour to date in North America.

Tennis’ distinctive pop approach has captured the hearts of fans across the globe, and this new release adds fuel to the already blazing fire.
