PREMIERE: ANDRO – “PHYSICAL”

The rising star bears it all with a searing portrait of domestic violence.

ANDRO wasn’t always solo. After spending a lofty seven years in the Mercury-nominated band JUNGLE – ANDRO decided to forge his own path. Although the group had done the rounds – flitting from headlining Alexandra Palace, to playing at Glastonbury, going on to revel at Coachella – they’d done it all. ANDRO nonetheless has cemented his own status in the game as one to watch.

His latest offering “Physical”, is a feat of artistic excellence. The heartfelt fuel of the track emanates from its twangy guitars, cresdendoing synths, and pulsing beat. “Physical” was crafted up between ANDRO, along with writer Hannah Yadi, and producer Courage – which means this track was built for greatness. Yadi has lent her writing chops to the likes of FLO and Friendly Fires, while Courage is a go-to for Lava La Rue and Foxes, to name a few.

Steeped in musical aptitude, the lyrics of “Physical” imbue the track with its hard-hitting nature. Chronicling the throes of domestic violence, ANDRO opens the listener up to pure vulnerability. The artist reflects: “The song is about when my parents used to fight and what that was like, watching and growing up with. The pain and trauma that it can carry through into adulthood and how it’s shaped me as a person, teaching me how to navigate my own platonic and romantic relationships, and be the cycle breaker of my family.”

Breaking cycles, and boundaries, ANDRO is what we want to see more of. A breath of fresh air amidst the glossy surface of the music industry – we’re very here for artists who create without fear.
