In the weeks following Christmas, we’ve found ourselves falling into a post-holiday rut. But, it seems like our prayers have been answered – as we’ve been graced with the 80th Golden Globes awards. There’s nothing that we love more than a good ol’ awards ceremony – we get to witness our fave celebs prance around in gorgeous gowns and dapper suits, while the creme-de-la-creme of the entertainment industry is brought to light. So, we’ve decided to gather up our favourite moments from last night’s illustrious event, and serve them up to you on a silver platter.

Head below for more…

Perfection in Prada

Starting off with fashion looks, we simply must share our Winter 22/23 coverstar’s ensemble, as she looked every bit a dream. Donning an elegant Prada gown, the burnt-orange of the dress melts into the white, giving an almost ombre effect. The deep orange pairs gorgeously with her skin, and the dress features a high slit to add some sexiness into the equation. Tying in the gown with strappy sandals of the same colour, Wright was looking like a prize herself.

All hail Queen Rhi

Since Rihanna has been keeping busy with her mum duties, we’re elated to see that it hasn’t held her back from turning it out. Snapping up her first ever Golden Globes nomination for her contributions to the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, Rhi rose to the occasion – looking sensational in Schiaparelli. Comprising of a ruched, bodycon dress, the look is brought over the edge by a billowing bouffant cape that trailed along behind her. Her gorgeous glam highlighted her classic beauty, and all in all Rhi was a vision.

It’s Margot Robbie’s world, and we’re just living in it

Actress Margot Robbie has really been living up to her upcoming role as Barbie, churning out a flurry of pink looks on the red carpet. And, we’re not mad about it – because she eats it up every single time. This time around, she dons a Chanel gown – custom, no less. A halter neck chevron dress, it’s worth mentioning that this ensemble is pure couture. The embroidery, embellishments, and sewing took a whopping 750 hours to complete, and we expect nothing less from our Barbie girl.

Gorgeous in Gucci

Next up is Wednesday star, Jenna Ortega. Departing from the darker hues she’s been wearing while on the press circuit for her hit TV show, for the Golden Globes she opted for a tan, almost coral Gucci dress. Cherry-picked from the House’s SS23 collection, Ortega looked glam down to the toes. The gown features criss-cross cutouts, while intricately pleated sleeves and a skirt float and flow, making Ortega look like a billowing dream. With stunning silver necklaces matching the hardware in the dress, this look is *chef’s kiss*.

Fiery in fuschia

Last up in the looks is Billy Porter. Famed for his head-turning red carpet ensembles, last night he did not disappoint. Donning a Christian Siriano fit, Porter looked fierce in a fiery fuschia dress-suit hybrid. The actor paid homage to his iconic 2019 Oscars, offering up a whole new colourful iteration. The suit jacket juts out into a dazzling skirt, and this look (yet again) has people talking. To die for!

And now, onto the awards…

Austin Butler wins Best Actor

Born in Disney, but made in Hollywood – our resident blonde heartthrob had a career defining moment when his name was called for Best Actor in a Drama Film for his celebrated performance as Elvis in Baz Luhrmann’s biopic. Gracefully accepted and greatly deserved, this award establishes Butler as an actor who not only honours those who should be remembered but that he himself is not to be forgotten.

Evan Peters wins Best Limited Series Actor

Evan Peters’ harrowing, but brilliant performance in Dahmer won him the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Television Film. His success has come full circle with a career defining moment portraying a murderer, stemmed from his big break as the murderous teenager Tate Langdon in American Horror Story. From teen to top dog, we cannot wait to see what he does next.

Quinta Brunson wins Best Comedy Series

From making a self-produced Instagram series, and creating (and starring) in ABC’s Abbott Elementary, to ultimately winning multiple Golden Globes, Quinta Brunson certainly proves that you don’t need a degree from Juilliard to succeed in this field. During her acceptance speech, Quinta did not disappoint in regards to utilising her comedic flair to say what any sane human would say; “Comedy brings people together. Comedy gives us all the same laugh– hey, Brad Pitt!”. We congratulate her for her well deserved win, and thank her for delivering the most relatable speech of the night.

And now for some meme-able moments…
