Ladies and gentlemen, has done it again. Taking to Paris’ Carré du Louvre yesterday, the French maison presented its most whimsical collection to date in a spectacular showcase filled with the type of wonder that can only be associated with one’s childhood.

Conceived and created by the Studio, Prêt-à-Porter Homme, a hive of creative minds who previously worked alongside the brand’s late Artistic Designer, Virgil Abloh, the maison unveiled its Spring/Summer 2023 Menswear collection – and what an unveiling it was.

Honing in on their core motifs of imagination, craftsmanship and showmanship, Louis Vuitton took to a place from which they could be explored without hesitation – within a child’s mind. The catwalk, modelled after a children’s toy racetrack – think chic Hot Wheels – acted as the magical path from which the collection would be showcased, setting the tone perfectly for the keen fashion mavericks and major palyers filling out the show’s seats.

Accompanied by stellar performances throughout, the show kicked things offs with the joyful blare of The Marching 100 to the Sun Ra Arkestra’s score for the film Enlightenment and also featured a show-stopping surprise performance from American rapper, Kendrick Lamar. Whilst seated front row next to the likes of Naomi Campbell and Dave Free, the musical sensation gave us a rendition of hits of which the last, titled “Long Live Virgil”, was dedicated to Abloh.

While the music and sheer theatrics of the night were enough to brand this one of the shows of the season, the excitement did not end there. The collection, filled with a melange of child-like sensibilities, touched on French romanticism in a continuous ode to the maison’s roots. Featuring everything from oversized suits with sewed-on leather paper planes, to cartoon prints hand-painted onto windbreakers and toy truck-shaped bags, Louis Vuitton’s SS23 collection screamed nostalgic fun – a true joy to observe.
