With the warm weather having fully settled in and the nights beginning to once again feel ever-lasting, we all have our minds firmly cast on a summer spent abroad. And, Chanel is here to encourage your escapism thoughts as it reveals its Monte-Carlo-bound Cruise 22/23 collection.

Taking to Monaco, the French house has looked to pay homage to the opulent haze that washes over the coveted get-away spot by drawing influence from its rich cultural history and injecting it into its newest collection. Starting with an irresistible blend of sporty sensibilities and Chanel’s forever-sophisticated vibe, their infamous tweed cuts meet swimming suits for what can best be described as the ultimate holiday wardrobe. And, that is not where the serene location’s hold on the collection ceases. With Sofia and Roman Coppola directing a sun-soaked collection video in which a group of Cruise collection clad models lounge about on boats and bask in the truly luxurious landscape, Chanel’s mission to have its shoppers dreaming of a vacation at their latest geographical muse is complete.

When discussing the latest collection, Creative Director Virginie Viard explains, “To me, Monaco is a matter of feelings above all. That’s Karl, Caroline, Charlotte. From very early on, I knew we would hold a show there, and more precisely at the Beach Hotel. Besides, Karl was dreaming about it. From this magnificent venue, one can glimpse his villa, La Vigie. I will never forget the times I spent there: terraces and balconies, big umbrellas, baskets of flowers – so much beauty.”

Also commenting on the overall feel of the collection, Viard also states, “A sporty atmosphere, but not only. There are lots of tweed or silk jumpsuits lined with light terry cloth. Many sequins and flowers shape embroidered plastrons adorning thinly striped long shirt-dresses with white high collars – a nod to Karl – a sequined midnight blue dress, or backless tops worn over wide-cut trousers.”
