Next up in the couture calendar is Fendi, as the house took centre stage in a bid to unveil its Spring 2022 collection.

With the show standing as an interpretation of Kim Jones‘ Rome, the Artistic Director looks to reflect the forever evolving nature of the Italian city, whilst also honouring its rich history. With this in mind, an almost other-worldly air hung over the show, as the models were transformed into ethereal beings that transcended the boundaries of time, perfectly reflecting Kim’s timeless perception of the city.

“When you walk down the streets in Rome, you are constantly moving back and forth in time. Where we work feels very modern, but you pass monuments on the way there. There’s a total timelessness to the city: a historic vein which runs through it, but also a movement that is projecting forwards,” explains the designer when discussing the theme of his latest collection.

When it came to silhouettes, a haunting tone was set as fluid organza fabric and duchesse silk brought the drama, elevated by a midnight black, off-white and royal navy colour scheme. And, with couture craftsmanship evident through ornate sequin details and pipping, the fashion festivities that are currently underway were celebrated. With a true essence of opulent Rome, both past and present, captured, Fendi honoured its Italian roots with all of the theatrics essential to a perfect couture show.
