With Fashion Month in full swing, it is fair to say that many of us are enjoying the overload of shows, collections and front row looks being served to us daily at this time of year. But, with some struggling to keep up with the 2022 fashion calendar and with couture shows on the horizon, we thought it only fair to recap some of the most exciting collection drops from over the last few weeks. So with this in mind, head below to enjoy displays from the likes of Kenzo, Alaïa, Bianca Saunders and more…

There was only one way to start this round-up, and it was with what is probably the most talked-about fashion show of the season thus far, courtesy of Kenzo. Standing as the debut of Nigo as the house’s Artistic Director, the front row of the FW22 show was naturally star-studded with attendees ranging from the likes of Kanye and Julia Fox to Tyler, The Creator, Pharrell, and J Balvin. And, as for the clothes, styles and times collided as Nigo introduced Japanese sensibilities with Western ideas of fashion, all while looking to the 70s, 50s and beyond for era-appropriate references galore. What a debut!

At Alaïa’s SF22 show, it was gowns galore! With the female form at the heart of the collection, an array of figure-hugging dresses, complete with feathered and ruffled hems, were paraded down the runway – some with turtle necks-turned-face coverings offering a subtle nod to the current climate. And, as for design, who better to look to than the trailblazing Picasso to lend abstract patterns to some of the brand’s cuts? Mixing classic femininity and iconic art, the collection was both bold and delicate in equal measure. Also, we need that oversized shirt dress in our wardrobes, immediately.

Sacai

If you are looking to elevate your winter wardrobe, you should be shopping from Sacai’s Men’s AW22 and Women’s Pre Autumn collections. Thick fur trims run rampant as leather blazers and uber cropped bikers jackets feature, all of which boast exaggerated silhouettes. And, after seeing those platform snow boots, we are secretly praying for a frosty February. With the ingenious Chitose Abe at the helm of these collections, the vibrant themes of ambition and self-assuredness make sense as the new Sacai unifrom presents itself.

For the Wales Bonner’s AW22 collection, we were treated to a deliciously eclectic display, one that celebrates the breaking of codes as sporty sensibilities were invited to attend an evening soirée. With the famed jazz trumpeter Don Cherry and his wife and artist Moki Cherry standing as the inspiration behind the collection, their creative and romantic unions were celebrated throughout the clothing and theme – most evident in the collection’s title: Togetherness. And, what would a Wales Bonner collection be without a flash of Adidas? With gemstone coloured Gazelles providing the collection’s accessories, the long-standing collaborative relationship between the two presented itself.

While the festive period may be over, Paco Rabanne wants to get you in the mood to party, and its AW22 collection is doing just this. Under sunset-hued lighting, ruffles, sequins and metallics were celebrated and mini dresses and pumps reigned supreme, resulting in the ultimate party-goers wardrobe.

What would a fashion week be without a few history-making moments? Taking to Paris for her debut solo catwalk show, London-hailing designer Bianca Saunders unveiled her trippy AW22 collection. With visual 3D effects laying over flat-surfaced shirts and careful cuts helping to exaggerate the silhouettes of outerwear, her ingenious craftsmanship was celebrated.

When discussing her latest collection, the designer explained, “I want the collection to be timeless – it could be now, it could be the past, it could be the future. It’s not just about one person – I want everyone to see a part of themselves in it.”
