If one thing has been made abundantly clear to us over the last year, it is how much we rely on Netflix. Whether we find ourselves in the midst of a global pandemic or just bored on a Saturday night, the streaming service has never failed to provide top-quality entertainment and cinematic drops that get the TL buzzing. So, even though many of us are preparing to venture further out into society this week as restrictions are further lifted, we know that you will be wanting to keep an eye out for the latest Netflix offerings in 2021. From 90s rom-com reboots to new seasons of Netflix favourites such as Stranger Things and You, we have rounded up all of the best drops coming from the streaming service this year….

The Harder They Fall

Kicking off the round-up is the upcoming Western movie The Harder They Fall. Produced by none other than Jay-Z, the film follows the story of outlaw Nat Love as he seeks revenge on his enemy Rufus Buck – aka Idris Elba – after his release from prison. Featuring a decorated cast, including the likes of Regina King and LaKeith Stanfield, the film is set to be a wild ride featuring showdowns and cowboy getups galore.

It is safe to say that a 90s movie reboot sounds like a dream – especially when it stars Addison Rae. Set for release on the 27th of August, the classic rom-com She’s All That is getting a 2021 makeover. He’s All That follows the perfect teen movie plot, as we are offered the journey of influencer Padget as she embarks on turning the school’s biggest geek into a prom king. With this being Addison’s debut starring role in a movie, the project is gaining a lot of attention, and, if the TikTok star’s display of affection towards her co-star Tanner Buchanan at the MTV Awards was anything to go off, the film is set to be very romantic indeed.

Sex Education Season 3

It wouldn’t be a Netflix round-up without a feature from everyone’s favourite coming of age show Sex Education. With the show’s third season having been delayed in production due to Covid restrictions, it has been a long while since we got our dose of raunchy comedy, sex-filled dilemmas and all-around awkward encounters. And, while the next season isn’t set to drop until the second half of this year, you can enjoy the soothing tones of Mr Groff revealing the new season on repeat while you wait.

Peaky Blinders Season 6

He’s All That

We are just going to say it, Peaky Blinders is one of the best shows to have graced our screens in the last decade. But, however sad it may be, all good things must come to an end. With season 6 of the Birmingham gang-based drama set to stand as its last, we are preparing ourselves to say an emotional goodbye to the mobster family in an explosive final series this year. Season 5 left us on the gut-wrenching scene of the show’s lead Tommy Shelby with a gun to his head whilst undergoing some serious mental torment, which has single-handedly fuelled the suspense and anticipation regarding the final instalment over the last year. And, while there is no release date for the final season in sight yet, it is most definitely at the top of our watch list for 2021.

Stranger Things 4

By now, you will be well aware of the upcoming fourth instalment of Stranger Things. After dropping the second of four upcoming teasers for the show’s next season, Netflix sent fans, TV lovers and the TL into a meltdown with flashing scenes of Eleven’s old treatment facility played over eerie music. And, with the latest hint joining a previous clip of the supposedly dead Jim Hopper hidden away in Russia, the latest season of the sci-fi drama is shaping up to the best one yet.

The Kissing Booth 3

In search of some cheesy romance and Man About Town cover star Jacob Elordi playing a rugged love interest? Look no further than The Kissing Booth 3. Set to act as the finale in the film franchise’s lineup, The Kissing Booth 3 will follow Joey King’s character as she tries to decide which university she should attend, all the while dealing with all of the classic teenage qualms including matters of the heart and complex friendships.

You Season 3

He’s All That

While we may be waiting for the show’s third instalment, we don’t think we have quite wrapped our head around the prospect of Penn Badgley playing a creepy murderer in the thriller series You. Regardless, a barrage of intense stalking and uncomfortable scenes is heading our way as we are set to receive season 3 of the show at some point this year. With the last season leaving us with a chilling monologue from Badgley’s character Joe, as he sets his sight on his next victim that lives next door, we were left worried and seeking answers as to the fate of his pregnant partner Love, their unsuspecting neighbour and Joe himself. Hopefully, we will get all of the answers in the upcoming season!

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie

Set to drop on June 3, Netflix has also got a release for the anime lovers with its two-part film Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal. Standing as an adaptation of Naoko Takeuchi’s Sailor Moon manga series, the film is set to take us on an intense quest to save Earth as an evil force acquires power following a solar eclipse. With the only people strong enough to fight this evil disbanded, the Sailor Guardians must reunite in a bid to restore peace.

tick, tick…BOOM!

He’s All That

Rounding off the lineup is a Lin-Manuel Miranda-directed special, in the form of a new musical drama tick, tick…BOOM!. Giving us a look into the heart of 90s New York, we are set to explore a journey filled with dreams of theatre music domination and introspection from the main character Jon. With Andrew Garfield and Vanessa Hudgens at the helm of the cast, we have a feeling that this movie is going to be one of the biggest to drop in 2021.
