It’s coming. After more than a year of waiting and anticipation, we’re finally getting a dose of high glamour/camp/scandalous ‘fits, as the prestigious MET Gala is set to return. Normally the most glittering event in the fashion calendar hosted by Anna Wintour falls on the first Monday in May, but this year the night of secrecy and bathroom selfies will reportedly take place on September 13.

Called off last year due due to the pandemic, fashion fanatics and couture fiends have been left starved of high fashion looks that break every creative barrier. With so much news swirling since Page Six made the announcement over the weekend, we dived in deep and found as much information on the gala as possible.

Even though Anna Wintour chairs the event every year, she can’t do it all without some help, and celebs such as Beyoncé, Rihanna and Harry Styles have all leant a hand over the years. And this year, the star of Biden’s Inauguration Amanda Gorman and designer Tom Ford are rumoured to be joining the board.

The theme of the MET Gala is probably the most important aspect of the event, and while there have been rumours that the theme will pick up where it left off from last year’s About Time: Fashion and Duration, Page Six reports that this theme will be devoted to honouring America and American designers, following the 18-month-long COVID crisis in the country. So that means either Lana Del Rey will turn up draped in an American flag or Rihanna adorned with thousands of clocks?
