There are certain choice words which will always have a triggering effect on our psyches. Zendaya being a permanent fixture. Euphoria being another. Secret Netflix project filmed during the pandemic?! Our lockdown brains are struggling to handle this overload of information. But indeed, it’s been announced that Euphoria creator Sam Levinson shot secret film Malcolm & Marie amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, starring none other than Zendaya and John David Washington – which Netflix has snapped up and is set to land on the streaming platform February 5, 2021.

The film – which allegedly has “some echoes of Netflix’s Marriage Story, while resonating [with] a number of social themes which the world is experiencing right now” – sees Washington as a filmmaker and Zendaya as his girlfriend, with the plot following them after they return home from a movie premiere. A conversation about their past relationships takes a turn, truly testing the strength of their love. We’re not looking forward to shedding Marriage Story-level tears, but the chemistry between Washington and Zendaya is bound to be one-for-the-history-books captivating…
