Anne Hathaway? Octavia Spencer? Stanley Tucci? HBO have really outdone themselves with the cast for the upcoming adaption of Ronald Dahl’s 1983 novel The Witches and finally, we have the first look. Originally intended to debut in cinemas, the film which is scheduled for release October 22nd digitally takes us through the original story of the classic novel, but with a modern glamorous twist. Playing the Grand High Witch, Hathaway channels Devil Wears Prada looks with a fierce and ferocious attitude, while Spencer stars as the doting grandmother of the young orphaned boy played by newcomer Jahzir Bruno.

The darkly humorous and heartwarming storyline, sees Bruno living with his loving grandmother in a rural town, as they encounter a group of glamorous yet diabolical witches on their trip to an opulent seaside resort. Directed by The Polar Express and A Christmas Carol director Robert Zemeckis, the films boasts state-of-art visual effects that are sure to have us hiding by pillows this Halloween.
