Taylor Swift – folklore

As news came in that Taylor Swift was dropping her eighth studio album today, Swifties and cats around the world scrambled to locate their minds and prepare themselves – but nothing could prepare us for how stunning this record is. Dubbed her greatest album yet, Taylor opts for more muted songwriting leaving behind her bombastic pop days for soft cascading pianos and country-esque guitar strings. Written and produced in lockdown, the soul-searching album pulls on the heart-strings and is the singer’s most introverted and introspective album yet.

Drake + Headie One – “Only You Freestyle”

Drake on a drill beat? We’re already involved. Teaming up with chart-topping UK rapper Headie One, the Canadian native and the “Both” rapper go bar for bar with punching metaphors over an impressive trap beat. With Drake known to be a massive supporter of the UK music scene and hints of more collaborations on the way, we’re excited to see if there could be a joint project in the works.

Bree Runway ft Maliibu Miiitch – “Gucci”

Bree Runway did that. Following up from her explosive remix of Rina Sawayama’s “XS”, the trailblazer is back with an eccentric new track. Enlisting New York rapper Maliibu Miiitch, the two rappers present us with a stellar video with high-shine platforms, PVC everything and glamourzon jewellery. The highly addictive dancefloor-ready tune is just what we ordered to start our weekend.

Alex Aiono – “Good Morning”

Need some motivation? Alex Aiono has you sorted with his gospel-inspired tune “Good Morning”. With electrifying lyrics and feel-good choir choruses, the singer challenges us to push through our fears over an upbeat piano. His album, The Gospel at 23 also dropped today featuring optimistic flows and alternative pop bliss. Set to star in Netflix’s Finding Ohana, we’re curious to see what else the singer can lend his talents to.

Jason Derulo  – “Take You Dancing”

11 years after his debut, it is still impossible to not say the singer’s name without singing his catchy name tag. Having taken over TikTok with his seemingly impossible challenges and videos, the singer is back with yet another dance-worthy tune. “Take You Dancing” showcases modern-pop guitars with waist-shaking dance breaks for an addictive and chart-topping tune. The flirty pop song is set to be a sure hit on TikTok as the singer already boasts over 30 million followers.

Charlotte Lawrence – “Slow Motion”

Charlotte Lawrence is back with a staggering left-pop offering and we can’t get enough. The therapeutic tune debuts woozy melodies and rolling beats for a charmingly layered production. Accompanied by a video co-directed by Charlotte and Tyler Shields, the singer is gearing up for her debut album as she explores a new sound.
