Let’s start from the beginning. How did BRKLYN start?
We went to high school together and were in rival bands. We were the only two bands in the school so we naturally bonded over music and geeked out on guitar gear. We played our first show in 2014 and signed our first deal as BRKLYN in 2015.

How were you first introduced to music?
Cameron: My brother taught me how to play guitar at twelve years old. It was very much a musical household. My Dad is also a professional whistler and has featured on many of my records throughout the years.

Cody: I came from a musical family so I was around it all my life. My dad was a jingle composer for television commercials and my mom is a dance choreographer. It was in my blood.

Why do you like making music in California specifically?
Man, so fortunate to live in California and specifically LA area. NYC and LA is the epicentre for music. We get to be inspired by the emerging trends and learn from the great talents and competition.

What musical elements characterise your sound?
Melodies and guitars. We also sing and play all the instruments on our records.

How did you end up collaborating with Jocelyn Alice on “Nobody But You”?
We have released a bunch of successful records together. When we were sent her NBU vocal we fell in love instantly. Had to have it. When the vocal is beautiful and dope the music flows and writes itself.

What messages do you want to convey to your listeners through your music ?
We want them to feel and think and experience what they can only find in BRKLYN. I think connecting through music is only part of the whole connection with our listeners.

How do you like to spend weekends when you’re not working?
Real Estate moguls. Joke! But we are working on some different projects outside of music that we will share when we’re ready.

What’s next in the coming weeks, months, even years?
We will be touring and supporting this single “Nobody But You” hard for the next months. Got some big-time remixes coming out for Illenium and Ekali. Also, have a new joint coming out with Brando that we are ecstatic about! And then time to focus on our first album with Armada Music. Which is half-way done already. Been in a crazy flow lately and finishing so many dope records that we are excited to share with all you bastards.
