PFW: MIU MIU AW20

Cabaret and David Bowie soundtracked the Italian fashion house’s golden age fashion show.

Plush red velvet chairs and a space decorated in soft pink neon lights casted a dreamy glow over the final day of Paris Fashion. Italian fashion house Miu Miu turned their space into a theatre ready to set the stage for their AW20 collection, with their motto as “charm as positivity”.

The show opened with tunes from the soundtrack of the theatrical film Cabaret, having us feeling like Liza Minnelli singing to “Maybe It’s Time”, as well as music from the legendary David Bowie mixed in, to provide us with a warm feeling of decadence. As the show started a familiar face descended down the concrete stairs of Place D’Lene, Euphoria actress Storm Reid turned heads with a 40s-inspired braided hairstyle and a silk crinkle effect orange dress with a wool overcoat.

Big coats and dresses heavily coated in glistening crystals were paired with platform heels, and the collection felt fresh with models transforming into showgirls from the 20s and 30s but with a modern-day punch. Long lean coats with military buttons, ankle-grazing skirts and and school girl pinafores also upped the kitsch effect.
