WONDERLIST

From the complete Charlie’s Angels soundtrack to Jeff Goldblum and Miley Cyrus: here’s all the best new music this week.

Charlie’s Angels – The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Just before we got were sick of playing “Don’t Call Me Angel” on repeat, Charlie’s Angels just dropped the official Original Motion Picture Soundtrack and to be honest it’s made our week. With a heavy dose of Ariana Grande throughout (obviously), the star-studded lineup includes tracks from the likes of Normani and Nicki Minaj, Kim Petras, ALMA and Stefflon Don, as well as features from eternal queens Donna Summer and Chaka Khan. The whole thing has pre-drinks all over it, so if you weren’t ready for Halloween weekend just yet you’re welcome!

JEFF GOLDBLUM AND MILEY CYRUS – “The Thrill Is Gone / Django”

In a world of teen Tik Tok stars and five minutes of fame, sometimes the constant updates are just all too much. But here, standing tall in all his glory, is the eternally fabulous Jeff Goldblum, representing all we know is still right with the world. Following on from his debut album this time this year, he just dropped I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This, a record made in collaboration with The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, featuring the likes of Gregory Porter and – yep – Miley Cyrus. Their jazzy track “The Thrill Is Gone / Django” makes us feel like we’re hosting a dinner party in an Old Hollywood movie and sometimes that’s just what you need.

Brooke Candy – “FMU” feat. Rico Nasty

If you hadn’t heard us screaming, Brooke Candy just stole our souls and dropped her debut album, Sexorcism. Featuring a gang of all-femme bad bitches including Charli XCX (who’s London show she supported last night), Maliibu Miitch, Iggy Azalea, Bree Runway and Ashnikko, the 12-track record just cemented Brooke’s status as our girl crush of 2019. Last week she also blessed us with a new video for “FMU”, featuring Rico Nasty, serving all the faux-leather outfit inspo you’ll need for the winter. It’s a piece of art, but when you creative directed Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” video, we wouldn’t expect anything less.

Teyana Taylor & Kehlani – “Morning”

Teyana Taylor and Kehlani just stole hottest music video of 2019. Featuring a red room, red satin sheets, a pair of red gloves and a hot tub, yesterday the pair dropped the visuals for their track “Morning”, and it’s the sexiest thing we’ve seen since Fleabag’s hot priest. We’ll just leave this here…

SHYGIRL – “BB”

“I like bad boys, I know they love me… They say I’ve got a type, I just think they’re lonely…”

This week SHYGIRL dropped her self-directed video for her new single “BB”, produced by NUXXE label co-founder and her regular collaborator Sega Bodega. Written about living with regret, we’re pinning it as the anthem for Hot Girl Halloween. Blending grime influences with garage, pop and trip-hop, SHYGIRL’s been collaborating with artists across music and fashion since her debut single “Want More” in 2016, creating her own brand of club music and a cult following in the process.

WILSN – “Brand New World”

Born and based in Melbourne, singer-songwriter WILSN has been making waves with her distinctive voice and jazzy pop sound. Her new single “Brand New World” – reminiscent of Michael Bublé’s “Feeling Good” – just dropped with all the drama and crescendos we need to soundtrack the weekend.

“This was an opportunity to create a song that is a nod to some of my more traditional soul influences from the late 60s. I spent a lot of my childhood performing with big bands and orchestras and soul music was one of my first loves”, she says of the track. Inspired by an eclectic range of icons from Aretha Franklin to Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Nina Simone, WILSN is reinterpreting soul in her own way and we can’t wait to hear more.
