ARIANA GRANDE TURNS 26

In honour of her birthday, here are seven times we stanned a Queen.

Two albums in six months?

While we can all appreciate Disney Channel Ariana, squeaky clean Ariana and the first taste of “Dangerous Woman” Ariana, it’s the past few years that have seen her glow up to embody all our popstar hopes and dreams.

We were all left absolutely shook and shaking on our knees when, just six months after she dropped her fourth, 15-track album Sweetener in August 2018, Ari released 12-track record thank u, next in February. Let this sink in: that’s one track completed every two weeks. The devil might work hard, but Ariana Grande works harder…

The world collectively sighed in appreciation when Grande first proclaimed that “God Is A Woman” in her second release from Sweetener, which later progressed to screams when she dropped a gloriously ethereal milky way video to match.

We stan a holy woman… Amen, Ariana Grande.

It’s hard to believe that “thank u, next” wasn’t a phrase thrown around daily before Ariana dropped the track back in November.

Referencing her past boyfriends Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez (nope, we still don’t know either), Pete Davidson and the late Mac Miller, the song instantly became our unshakeable anthem for any of life’s misfortunes. Salty ex? Thank u, next. TFL in 28 degrees? Thank u, next!

…and a “thank, u next” empire.

Rumour has it, Ariana’s now trademarked the phrase for her own beauty line – which makes all the sense in the world for a track written about the ultimate glow up.

Expected to feature products ranging from scrubs and body lotions to perfumes and colognes, it’s looking like she’s set to become our next popstar-turned-beauty guru. Get ready to clear your bank account, we’re all about to have skin as glossy as that ponytail.

4 June 2017 was a night the world won’t forget. Calling on friends including Miley Cyrus, Little Mix, Justin Bieber, Robbie Williams and Coldplay, Ariana staged a performance in homage to the 23 people killed during one of her concerts at the Manchester Arena bombing the previous month.

It was ceremonial and brave and to be honest, we’re all still in awe. You can re-watch the live broadcast here.

The only voice we’d like to hear on repeat more than Ariana’s own distinctive tone is her impression of Rihanna’s.

Two years ago on SNL, Ari took on the challenge we’ve all set ourselves in our teenage bedrooms, executing iconic vocal impressions of Ri, Shakira, Britney, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston better than anyone thought possible.

Her tweets, forever…
