Shawn Mendes – “Lost In Japan”

Wonderbabe Shawn Mendes can do no wrong, and in the video for his slick, funky head-bopper “Lost in Japan,” he has us wanting to book a one-way ticket to Japan to live in his Lost in Translation imitation universe. Silk dressing gowns, pink wigs and shower scenes galore. 11/10.

Aaron Unknown – “No Stress”

It’s been a busy month for South London rapper Aaron Unknown. And today he released the video for his latest single “No Stress” under his own label U.N.K.N.O.W.N Records – a light, soulful track about taking responsibility for our own wellbeing, even if that means taking a step back from the demands of everyday life. He ruminates on both personal growth and societal problems – namely the government’s “atrocious” response to the Grenfell fire – all in the name of embracing our humanity, each other, and good music.

Connie Constance – “Fast Cars”

If there’s one thing to learn about Watford-helmed Connie Constance, it’s that when it comes to music videos, she doesn’t do anything by halves. And in the visuals for her latest drop “Fast Cars” she goes full Marie Antoinette on us, taking to the grounds of a lavish Tudor estate with her gang – tall bouffant wigs and all. Mood. The tune itself? A soulful, understated slow-burner.

Tyler, The Creator – “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”

If Christmas songs in October are wrong, we don’t want to be right. Especially when it comes to Tyler’s reimagination of original tune “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” for the new adaptation of the film (where the green grump will be voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch). Tyler’s 2K18 version adds his signature drawl-rap, drums, strings and the soaring voices of a children’s choir for a pretty grungy, but epic, version.

Yonas Michael – “Love Is Legal”

Within the first thirty seconds of Yonas Michael’s video for “Love Is Legal”, the definitions for ‘happiness’ and ‘passion’ pop up on screen – two feelings the song immediately incites. Mixing elements of pop and soul, the light and sunny track is our fave from his new 5-track EP.
