PREMIERE: BARNS COURTNEY – “KICKS”

Sex, diners, and rock’n’roll.

Barns Courtney is spoiling us. Not only is he releasing his highly anticipated debut album The Attractions of Youth today, but he’s also dropping the visuals to album highlight, “Kicks”.

“It was inspired by classic American iconography.” The Seattle-via-Ipswich singer-songwriter says of the video’s inspiration. “I definitely feel like the director Paul Capra understood my creative vision, and then some. The use of different cameras and mediums paired with the surreal imagery of the flamingos definitely gives a feeling of traveling down the rabbit hole, which I really like. It’s pure adrenaline fuelled, sexy, sweaty, American sleaze.”

A visual treat, the video is just as explosive and in-your-face as the song itself. And with a chorus that you won’t be able to get out of your head all day, it’s the perfect illustration of Courtney’s infectious and exciting songwriting.

If you haven’t picked up his debut record already, what are you waiting for?

Barns Courtney plays Dingwalls tonight. Tickets available here.
