Vivienne Westwood for Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood

Vivienne Westwood has been modelling her own label clothes in her own label campaigns for near on 12 years, but this season saw her up the ante with an IRL appearance at Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood, in no less than two outfits – looks 11 and 67 respectively. While marrying behind the scenes with front of house is not a complete revelation – see Lotta Volkova’s seasonal march for camp Demna Gvasalia – for an icon like Westwood it’s the ultimate Insta opp.

In cloth talk, this season plenty of Kronthaler’s looks emerged paint splattered as if touched by the American artist. Skin tight purple jeans were targeted by white, blue and yellow brushes while tartan capes came with a sprinkling of white and black dribble, elsewhere full look blue and white striped denim came under attack from red, white and blue; to another eye the aesthetic could be read as space like, the brush marks reflective of the stars. Either works as far as we’re concerned.

Crude wordplay aside, the palette that ran throughout this Autumn Winter offering did indeed appear to politely partner the show venue’s romantic floor details, despite the obvious contrast to the latter’s more elegant leanings.
