Kenzo: Music Is My Mistress

Tracee Ellis Ross, Kelsey Lu and Jesse Williams star in Kenzo’s SS17 campaign.

If you’ve not yet set eyes on Black-ish, you haven’t lived, or something. Certainly Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, Kenzo’s creative directors since 2011, are alive and well, having tapped Tracee Ellis Ross for the brand’s latest campaign (Ellis Ross picked up the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV Series title at last month’s Golden Globes for her role in the series, in case you missed that too).

Lensed by Durimel – this is LA twins Jalan and Jibril Durimel’s very first campaign – the actress stars alongside Grey’s Anatomy actor Jesse Williams and musician Kelsey Lu, label mate to Abra and King Krule. Accompanying the SS17 visuals – a brilliant portrait series with a warm, vintage aesthetic and a contemporary sensibility – a new film is set to launch at the end of the month. Titled Music is My Mistress and directed by Kahlil Joseph, the short marks Lu’s acting debut and, based on Kenzo’s previous efforts, will no doubt be a bloomin’ triumph.
