Two of our fave Korean brands presented their latest creations to international buyers and press at Pitti Immagine Uomo 91.
Today saw two Korean future stars of fashion, BMUET(TE) and ORDINARY PEOPLE, showcase their latest fashion collections in partnership with heavyweight government agency KOKKA, Korea Creative Content Agency, at CONCEPT KOREA, a special event by Pitti Immagine Uomo 91 in Florence.
For those not yet versed with Korean fashion’s major players, Byungmun Seo and Jina Um are the design duo behind BMUET(TE) by BYUNGMUN SEO, a ready-to-wear brand attracting some #major public attention since their launch in 2012, having been seen on celebrities like Justin Bieber and Peeta Mellark (yes, the actual Hunger Games character). They draw inspiration mostly from art and technology, resulting in completely unconventional but equally relaxed designs, with sharp lines and creative layering, always in the finest materials.
ORDINARY PEOPLE is the product of Jang Hyeong Cheol’s mind, one whose creations are dedicated to “non ordinary people” – think men with an aesthetic sensitivity and a deep taste for tailoring, exceptional attention to detail and an appreciation for fabrics and textures. This young menswear brand was first presented in 2011 and has been a firm presence at Seoul Collection, at Korea Fashion Week and in 2015, received the CFDK prize New Designer of The Year Award.
“This is the best situation to obtain visibility after the huge amount of work that comes before the fine tuning of a collection. We feel closer to our objective and believe the Florentine event is the ideal place to reveal our style. I am impatient of seeing what this involvement will bring,” explains Byungmun Seo, with Jang Hyeong Choel saying “We are really happy of being able to showcase our production during this important international event dedicated to fashion.”
