Premiere: Sports – "Manicure"

Sports get handsy with the video for new single “Manicure”.

Not many bands choose to name themselves after something they aren’t very good at, but Oklahoma-based Sports aren’t quite like your usual indie-pop outfit. While their athletic abilities leave much to be desired, Sports’, with a core made up of bassist Jacob Theriot, guitarist Christian Theriot and vocalist Cale Chronister, musical talents are way beyond most casual breezy indie that does the rounds. Their new EP “People Can’t Stop Chillin” is a collection of magical tracks that are full of enchanting melodies and shoegaze-y basslines. Produced by Chad Copelin, the EP is a dreamy, 80s indie-pop inspired party.

The video for their newest track “Manicure” is a trippy, psychedelic vision, where hands creep out of drawers, are laid out on platters and crawl over bodies. Set in a 80s-like dreamscape, Sports explore how bizarre and wild a dream can get when you open your mind. It’s kind of spooky, kind of eerie, but “Manicure” personifies the weirdness that goes down at teenage house parties and all the bizarre dreams that you’ve had over the years. There’s even someone in a giant hand costume – what more could you want?
