Alma Hotel

The Alma is bringing pub hotels back into fashion.

Self-described as “a boutique hotel without the attitude”, The Alma is a gem nestled away in Wandsworth. Encased in a traditional red brick Victorian pub is a hotel with exceptional service, beautifully decorated rooms that offer an incredibly cosy stay, and a pub with delicious food. Imagine floral wallpaper, designed by Osborne and Little, bespoke furniture, large bathrooms and a peaceful setting, and you’ve got The Alma.

Each of the 23 rooms has a Hypnos designer bed (dubbed the most comfortable in the world) as well as Nespresso machines, LED TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi. Not only did the rooms provide everything you could need, the staff gave exceptional service and attention to detail. A warm welcome awaited you, and the team’s dedication to service made the stay even more enjoyable. A unique feature of the hotel is the environmentally friendly solar panels lying on the roof, generating energy to power the hotel; all those hours watching the LED TV can be done in knowledge you aren’t costing the planet.

When it comes to food, The Alma takes pub grub to a whole new level. Classic English pub meals are transformed into fine dining, including traditional slow-cooked pork belly, scallops and tender steaks. The Bramford Room has its own bar and kitchen and is the perfect place for a stylish cocktail party or a traditional dinner party and – like the rest of the hotel – the service in the restaurant is exceptional. As the Christmas rush begins, you should look no further than The Bramford Room to host your celebrations. The Alma will be offering a dinner menu of up to four courses for guests, as well as a complimentary bottle of fizz for the party organiser. Turkey, honey roast ham, pork belly and all the other Christmas essentials are on offer, finished with a classic Christmas pudding with brandy crème anglaise, or one of the other four options available, all for £35 per person. For those wanting a light bite, the pub boasts a menu of light bites and sandwiches, as well as 30 different wines, numerous beers and an array of spirits. Also at the bar, guests can enjoy live music every first Friday of the month, with an acoustic session from Nicholas Di Gregorio from 9pm.
