LFW: Amanda Wakeley SS17

Unleash your inner artist, with floaty, effortless style from Amanda Wakeley SS17.

Into The Blue

Blue is the hue for you this SS17; or so Amanda Wakeley suggests. Her SS17 collection was full of 50 shades of blue, including dark denim and sultry navy. She creates flowy perwinkle dresses, ombré blue trousers and dark wash denim on denim pieces. For this season, Amanda was all about airy, breezy style and what better way to achieve it than to take the shades of the sky as inspiration.

She’s A Creative

For this season, Amanda was inspired by creative women. Her collection represents all types of creatives – such as a dancer turned artist – and creates the eclectic pieces that her artistic mind would choose to wear. This results in shades of indigo on gossamer silk and hand ombréd chiffons and tulles that are just sheer enough to dancer physique. This collection is easy and comfortable, based around a woman who wants to express herself simplistically through her clothing. Prints are influenced by the paint splatters she would get on her clothes, the cascading watercolours that she would paint and the sturdy bag that she would throw her dance gear into.

To Clothes, Or Not To Clothes

We all know that the ultimate goal is to not wear any clothes at all, or at least feel like we’re not. Amanda’s collection consists of the easiest, breeziest and most laid back designs you could ever want, that still keep you looking like a sophisticated lady who put some thought into her outfit. Wide leg trousers are paired with easy bodice tops or flowing tunics, while dresses are made in barely there chiffon that float over the body as if it were the dancer instead of you. Amanda also makes use of the easiest material of all: denim. She creates double denim outfits that are both loose fitting and super stylish. Her collection is topped off with comfy, staple black sandals that are the cherry on top of her effortless and cool pieces.
